Right i had to use my MX5 tonight and found the power steering on this to be light and easy to turn when doing a parrelel park...

i then got back in the REX and found the steering to be alot tighter, suppose it even feels a bit like an old car with no power steering ???

is this normal ?? if not what can i check to see if anything is right/wrong ??

maybe the fluids running low bud, does it make a whinney noise when you turn the wheel?

The rex probably has a larger pully :)

Teighto

so will be stiffer to turn ???

ds2000

Absolutely, pully size can make alot of difference.  I\'d be surprised if both cars used identical steering setups.

Teighto

ahh cool :)

if the fluid is low what could be the cause of this ??   leak maybe

ds2000

A small leak is possible, PS fluid doesn\'t usually go off wondering too much though :)

power steering fluid goes old,

take some out of the resovior and have a look, if its all burnt and black then it needs changing, if its red still and smells a bit eggy then its prolly due to pulley size etc.

remember that you get better steering feel when you dont have powersteering.

Mine feels pretty heavy at low speeds, I always put it down to the tyre width (much wider than an MX5!)

Teighto

yeah i was thinking that :D :D
