After 10 hours of work with 2 friends who\'ve never been near a rotary engine before we got my engine in and it almost started.

There\'s something stopping it tho I need to replace a plug lead (brand new it was) with another as its arcing.

A few things we discovered :)

1. Dragon\'s silenced mid-pipe won\'t sit between an SMB exhaust and SMB downpipe without being taken to an exhaust place to make it fit properly.
2. Getting a downpipe on when the engine is in is a right pain but can be done.
3. Don\'t buy MSD ignition leads...mine are brand new, connected properly and one is arcing.
4. An e-fini crossover pipe and hard intercooler pipes don\'t go well together with the intercooler actually being at an angle compared to the crossover pipe.

I\'ll post a couple of pics of the engine in the car when I get home and get the pix off my phone.

G@ndy said he\'d pop across and give me a hand if I needed it after he\'s back from his hols so I just PMed him. Probably something dead simple :)

nice :) i do love the metal crossover pipe , did you do the polishing yourself?

Nah, couldn\'t be bothered. Tho it was more expensive and not as well done as I\'d hoped, well the easy bits like the crossover were but they didn\'t do a good job on the other harder to do bits.

You did well getting the engine back in with the smb downpipe on. Mine is an smb. We got the downpipe in first no problem but the passenger side engine mount was fowling the subfame. Also the clutch pressure plate was fowling the top of bell housing. It\'s as though the back of the engine needed to be lifted and lowered at the same time which is impossible. We struggled for 2 hours and eventually took it all back out, removed the dp and it dropped straight in. It would be much easier with the stock downpipe but boy what a bloody struggle that was.

Ahh no we didn\'t, put the engine in without it...had to remove the steering column to get the DP on once the engine was in tho. What a git that was, it wouldn\'t take standard bolts with the washers as there was no way you could tighten them.

Got to get to an exhaust place anyways to get that midpipe sorted as it will be blowing rather a lot. With it connected properly to the DP there was a good inch difference with where it needed to meet up with the SMB exhaust.

Yep, getting the smb downpipe is a bit of a nightmare. I put my engine in yesterday without the d/p on. Realised today that in order to fit the d/p, ive gotta remove the Y pipe. To remove the Y pipe i gotta remove the rear turbo intake. To remove that ive gotta loosen the clutch master cylinder bloody GIT GIT GIT. Then one last kick in the teeth is you gotta remove the steering linkage. On these cars you gotta remove 3 things to remove the thing you want to remove. I had fun doing it though. You try fitting the d/p on your own under the car whilst holding the gasket because all the studs have come out! Think i\'ve spoke the whole french language today lol

:D We only moved the steering linkage but tightening the top nuts caused a lot of scraped hands! It was actually easier to tighten one of the top nuts from below!

I\'m saving to go single now, even if only to get rid of the crap you get with twins!
