I need to check all the cores of the loom from the back of the dashboard to the front of the engine bay. Now I\'ve already had one attempt and fixed some cores over the driver\'s side wheel arch lining so I can do that bit but...

Can someone explain in words of one syllable :chat how to remove enough of the dash to expose the main engine loom between the bulkhead and the stalk controls on the dash - including the pop-up headlight button on the right of the instrument panel?

Even just telling me which order to start unscrewing things...steering wheel cowel..erm...then...erm

Bumppp...please help, I need to start this on Sunday and I have borrowed a spare car for one week to sort this out.

Where do you start to remove the dash?

Thanks for the offer but I\'ll be doing it after work each night so I should be OK.

Right, off to search for the manual online...

take all the covers off around the steering column. your going to have to remove the whole dash as you have to unclip the loom from behind the dash. You will fiind two screws on either far sides, you can see them when you open the doors and remove the side plastic. Then you have 2 bolts on either side of the transmission well and one at the top in the middle and thats it the dash will be loose. To get it over the steering wheel you may need to remove the steering wheel but you have to undo two more bolts on the steering rack as well which are also attached to the dash, this gives the rack a bit of play.

Its not difficult just make sure you remember what goes where.

This is crazy, I am using the 94 wiring diagram and I\'ve found that I have no Retractable Headlight Relay! What on earth am I meant to do now, the wiring makes no sense so I can\'t trouble shoot it. Does anyone have a 1992 wiring diagram?

andysmee

Found it! It\'s not where it says in the 93 wiring diagram, it\'s by the accelerator pedal near the fuse box.

Turns out the Retra Relay is fduked. Can bypass it for now and use the retractor switch temporarily.
