hi
just started to stripping down my donar engine that had an engine fire sometime ago.
found that the rear rotor tips bar one had got tight in grooves thus causing no compression and the side seals on both rotors front and rear are also tight more so on the rear there is no signs of rusting as in a water problem as this is my first rebuild is this usually normal
can you advise as to how to remove side seals without damaging rotor
thanks:2Confused

Can you get the corner seals out?

If the side seals are stuck, try pushing them back and forth slightly in the slot.

hi
yes the corner seals are out have tried pushing them back and forth but not really any joy spose i will have to persavier
is this normal then?
thanks

yep normal, if theres alot of carbon buildup there a bugger to remove, cn try soaking them in petrol and using a brush to loosen then a bitty..

on scrap rotors i used a small screwdriver and just tapped them out, cant see this causing any damage..

spray carb cleaner is very good at removing carbon, soak it in that and they should give.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

ok
thanks to you all very helpful:god

Last time i had this problem i bought a Gallon of Carb cleaner and left the Rotor in it for a cupple of days (works fine)

Just make sure you get Decarbonizer as oposed to Degreaser, its a common mistake and degreaser does\'nt shirt Carbon in the same way.

It is not normal for these seals to be stuck unless there is another problem.
If the side seals are stuck then there can be other problems that have cuased it.
The engine may have been revved really hard, which causes the rotor to move sideways too much, and forces the side seals into their grooves, then closes up the metal of the slot which binds them in.
This can also happen if bearings are below tolerance as the eccentric shaft can be moving too much if it is mains,or rotor bearings too.

would it not run rich and carbon up if it was low on comp? Asuming it was not given wot every so often?
