So, after saving a few pennies and being nearly able to buy a rex, I\'ve had a sensible thought (rare I know :Hammer  ). I got a fantastic insurance quote off AON which requires that I keep the car in a garage. My garage is in a block built in the early 70\'s and because of that it isn\'t particularly big. I\'ve had a look at the dimensions of an FD3 online but I don\'t know if it includes mirrors (are they foldable?) and I don\'t know how much room I need to open the doors.

The garage dimensions are as follows:

4.84m deep (to the inside of the door)
2.51m wide
2.12m door width

There is a small brick pillar against the left hand side wall starting 2.3m from the inside of the door, which measures 0.2m deep by 0.11m wide.

The other issue is closing the garage door - how high is a rex\'s ass going to be?

Can anyone give me a clue as to whether a standard-ish rex will fit?

Many thanks,

Chris.

(If someone tells me that I can\'t have one then I\'m going to have to buy a caterfield with a piston engine... Fun but the engine\'s all wrong  )

mirrors fold in yes. the door opening really depends on how big you are really. im off out to wash my car a little later, ill get my cloth tape out.

Good man - cheers for that. I reckon I\'m about 1/3 the size of your average Gurj, so no probs getting in unless its really bad :D

Ta,

Chris.

My garage was built in the 1970s with a brick pillar on either side and it is a tight squeeze. I have a tennis ball hanging off the ceiling which when it touches the windscreen tells me to stop!
I leave the mirrors out as the rear wing sticks out more than the passenger mirror so if you get as close as possible to the left pillar you can then make sure the rear wing clears the garage door. A bit of carpet on the drivers side wall means I can open the door as far as possible and squeeze out. I\'m 6\'3".

Mine is kept in a block of council garages, not sure if this is what you mean? and when I first got mine I was very concerned it would not fit! it does but I have to reverse it in as close to the wall on the passanger side as possible, and I use a piece of thick card on the drivers side wall to stop the door being damaged when i squeeze out.

i have the same concerns as i built a garage a while ago, tried to but some extra land so i could have a nice size garage but my neighbours a arse so i had to make do, my garage now tapers in and i have fixed mirrors on my gen 1 with about 1" clearence each side of the front pillors, carpet on the walls so i can get out but it is tight, really dont think a gen 3 would fit so im gonna move before buying 1 (bit extreme i know but worth it)
