whats the general opinion??

Some time in the next year or so ill most likely need a rebuild, will it be cheaper/quicker e.t.c. to buy one already rebuilt then just swap over my bits, get it mapped & off i go?? or should i just bite the bullet and get mine rebuilt? anyone know where you can buy quality rebuilt engines?

If you\'re having yours bebuilt or need some advise fella, then I would head to Pip at WGT Auto Developments in Northwich.  He\'s been sorting these cars since the 80\'s and is a top bloke.

I take my own motor there and have never been dissaponted :)

As for if you can buy an already re-built unit, I think this would be a rare thing, but you never know...

yeh.... took it there for a check up last week, your right ... pip is a top bloke. got a fairly clean bill of health & said she\'d probably do a good 10K before needing a rebuild but saying that im thinking of planning ahead so im ready for it when the time comes... maybe even already have another engine ready to drop in pretty much to save myself time & maybe a bit of money... even if i get one done in stages..will save me having to fork out thousands all at once, can prepare & spread the cost a bit over the next 12 months??

There are some that insist on your old engine in exchange as it could affect the value of the reuild. Why pay for new housings etc etc when yours could be perfectly ok. You could end up knocking a £1500 of the bill or more.  Its why some people have theres rebuilt before they blow as its cheaper. If you can get a ready built engine and its cheap then good. Mine cost me £4500 but in that they replaced the rotor housings, one end plate and all the hoses etc, also press tested the rad and replaced clutch plate and exhaust manifold. charged £600 for rem and fit. So depends on how much money you have to burn.,

thats basically it.... im looking for the most cost effective (cheapest lol) way of doint it without compromising quality or cutting any corners e.t.c. its good at the moment so will get it done before it blows to save money i think... ill have a word with pip at wgt as i want to go up some time soon for a re map anyway.

you can buy rebuilt engines from here...some tuners do sell crate engines where you have to send them back your core....if your core turns out to be unserviceable, then you pay a core charge ontop of that
