Hi guys, so I\'ve been after an Rx7 Type R for a while and recently came across a Type RB (\'95) that fitted what I was after, basically totally standard with a fresh rebuild and pretty much mint outside and in, now my question is should I just keep holding out for a Type R?   Am I getting much of a lesser model going for a Type RB or are the basic 0-60 times handling and top speed unchanged - I\'ve done some research and it seems the RB has less power but is lighter than the Type R so that may balance it out a little?

So bottom line if it was you buying the car would you be happy to have an RB instead of a Type R or would you keep looking :)

Thanks.

That\'s the thing though I only want a totally standard car atm, some for my own safety as this will be my first performance car and I\'m to young to die (ok 28 but still)  :) and also for insurance purposes.

unmoddefied rx7`s? lol there like rocking horse poo... its up to you m8.. cant see there being much difference between the 2, still got all the toys the rest of them have.. dosnt matter what one you buy, its still likely to kill you :yes why i love um lol

would you say an unmodified rx7 would be more desireble than a modded one?

Habanos

Like Interloper said, you\'ll be lucky to find one that\'s unmodified.

In my opinion, if you can find one that has mods to the suspension, aftermarket alloys, brakes etc but with a pretty stock engine, you\'d be lucky, but this would be the sort of car I\'d be looking out for.

As we all know, any engine mods have potential to weaken the unit if not installed properly.

With so many tuning parts available for the F3DS it\'s almost impossible to resist the temptation to add something here and there along the way.

if you want a standard car, then jason at super7s got just what you want....! standard engines on standard bodies...worth more IMO than modified examples!

only engine mods mines got is the cat back exhaust, iv bought filters an ic and and ecu for it but now im having second thoughts on weather to put them on or not?

I think with standard cars being more rare + the savings you can get insurance wise then for someone such as myself who\'s only ever really driven every day cars then they are more desirable.

Obviously I\'d love to own a Single Turbo from the off but from a driving experience pov it would be silly of me to buy one + I dont want to be spending almost as much on insurance as I will be on the car which is why I only really want a standard car when I have more experience with an RX7 (which looking at the forums seems to be attracted to tree\'s, roundabouts, walls anything solid really :)) I can then start adding stuff - that\'s the plan anyway.

Give it a couple of years and there won\'t be any standard RX7\'s left.

Get a nice stock example and wrap it in cotton wool... will be worth a few bob in years to come I think ;)

You could easily get an RX7 then put it back to standard. Most owners only change the exhaust and air filter. Type R, RB RZ etc performance is all about the same. The RZ is lighter so marginally faster but they all have the same power plant so in the real world you\'d never know the difference.
Have a search on the site for model guide to the RX7 and very comprehensive write up was done a few years ago.

If this will be your first performance car then take it easy, its a very fast and amazing car, when other change gear at 6000rpm you keep going to 9000 and that is seriously sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! :D
