After the bad news with my engine being on its last legs I\'ve decided to install a 13b into the 1st gen. It will still be an LPG setup (sorry era) but the 13b is much more rebuildable and has more potential !

Im going to order a reasonable 13b, order a gsl-le sump, reslot my engine mount, install the 12a front plate and 12a dizzy.

The main bits that are worrying me at the moment are designing the intake track. Im looking at common runners going into a plenum. On top will be a throttle body (single 65-80mm dia ??) with the impco 300a on top of the throttle body.

Im not sure if the nikki could be fit to the top. I\'ve seen it on Era\'s bridgy, but im not sure how to do it !

Done some crazy reading today and my noodle hurts.

Im looking to have peak power about 6500rpm so the runners need to be 17.1in long. I don\'t know what diameter it should be though. I don\'t know what volume the plenum needs to be and what size throttle is needed. Im looking probably at a medium street port on the engine.

Pip said that i should be ok with the 12a S3 gearbox, is that right ?

Too many questions for one day !!!!!

I have done :Giggle

Its not the conversion that scares me. Its getting the intake sorted to work with the engine and the gas ! The aussies mainly go turbo with LPG and the setups are quite different.

howzit :)

is it the FC 13B 6-port engine your using ?
if so why not keep it fuel injected ? just have to wire computer change to high pressure pump etc not too hard if youve got a bit of time and there are gas conversions already for them :) just a thought :)

also use the 13B 6-port gearbox aswell as there stronger than the series 3 :) but the series 3 are strong boxes :)

whatever spins your wheels:)

but if it aint a rotor it aint a motor :)

Does the series 3 mount to the 2nd gen 13b though.

The big worry on the petrol front is that i don\'t have a petrol tank fitted to the car and all the bits for the gas are installed on the car now !

Im not sure if its a 6-port engine yet, did the egi come in both 4 and 6 port ?

Cheers for the info :D

Not sure i have a 13b 4 port in mine, bascily 13b rotors and 12a end plates makes it nice and easy to fit and you keep the 12a outlet with a 13b inlet

egi motor is 6 port, nice and strong, should be an easy converesion for you, have one in my rx3 with weber ida, standard motor with light fly wheel and freeflowing exhaust, is it all worth it, lpg, fretting about this and that, get a nice old golf gti if you want power and good economy mk2 16v excellent every day car track day family auto barn stormer, {i have an rx7 for fun as well as the 3} they compliment each other but the golf has the edge in terms of practicalities, a mate has lpg\'d his 16v and that goes well, did it him self and drove from gatwick to scotland at over a tonne and returned the equivellent of 60 mpg.
was at rxengineering a couple of years ago and a series 2 with turbo motor turned up on lpg big single turbo and ported motor, i asked John Blanch if it was any good only good for barbeques. This stuff in a rotary??
 have fun

I\'ve got rotaries in my blood now :D I have an FD for the fun weekends. The FB even on naff compression is doing 100 miles on less than £10 :D

It was something I was thinking about anyway, but not as soon as this.

The gas is a good mod, even though not may people use it over here. That confuses the hell out of me, the payback can be awesome. I only need to do about 10k miles to pay back the fuel bill difference :D

Been looking on ausrotary but can\'t find a proper howto yet, still digging !

Have no idea on the price of the engine, also not sure on the condition yet so prob watch this space. How much of the engine will you be after? maybe silly question but just need to know. Cheers

shaunwil

Not completely sure, may want the gearbox as well. Don\'t need the intake or the exhaust or the ecu or the wiring loom. Its going to be converted to carbs !
