Symptoms of faulty knock sensor?

Hi guys,

I have had this problem for quite a while, but lately its become really weird :rolleyes:

When driving most of the time the knock readings will be around the 20\'s mark... then just randomly the heat light will flash and knock will go above 60 and sometimes into the 100\'s, the highest being 185 :eek. The weirdest thing is that this happens at really odd times when there is no boost load, like from a standing start in first gear,  no boost and 2500 rpm... it also does this on idle and the other day whilst sitting in traffic the heat light flashed, looked at the knock readings and they were 9 :confused: ...

I\'m realy confused because with the high 100\'s knock level I\'m sure the engine wouldn\'t have survived by now?? The car drives fine and hasn\'t missed a beat... could this all be down to the knock sensor? If so does anyone have one lying around so I can replace the old one?

Probably not the answer, but if your passenger side engine mount was worn would/could that cause high knock? sorry just something iv\'s always wondered!
