Hi
My car has sprung a leak somewhere and i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction please.
The oil seems to be collecting and dripping down from where the engine meets the gearbox. I\'ve had a look with the car on axle stands but was unable to really see anything. I took it to a garage and they had it on their ramps they thought the problem was coming from the bottom turbo oil pipe as it was perished. By the time i got there,they\'d taken the car off the ramps so i couldn\'t have a look for myself.
I\'m stumped tbh!! Could it be the something to do with where the block joins the box??
Any ideas anyone???
Cheers
Pete

are you defo sure its engine oil?

i had this when my slave cylinder started leaking.

if it is engine oil its probably coming from your rear main oil seal behind the fly wheel
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

rear oil main seal is about a fiver............................ but the gearbox has to come out to fit it.

Is the car on twins or single turbo?  if its on twins the oil drain is stainless steel so wont perish. If its single turbo and your oil return is rubber & perished get it changed quickly,  people have killed their engines in minutes when they go on the motorway and dump all the oil in about 30 seconds at 80 mph when it gives up and splits.

it could be the sump but its unusual for them to just start leaking, normally leak after a rebuild.  I would guess its the rear main.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Its a single T78 and the pipe has been replaced thankfullly. Not intending on driving the car anywhere far until the leak is found. Going to de-grease the engine tomorrow then take her for the short run to the ramps and have a good look underneath. Unfortunately its looking like the main seal is weeping, but surely the clutch would be slipping???

The flywheel keeps the oil from the clutch Pete and throws it around the bellhousing where it runs down to the bottom where it leaks out.

Turned out to be the omp pipe feeding the rear rotor!:(  Had to do a running repair by sleeving the old pipe with a short length of silacone vac hosing and cable ties.:o Now the other bloody end has split or snapped,so its repair time again:( Adding premix in with the petrol now as well just to be sure.:)

i see, mine i think is the oil return pipe from second turbo as most oil is there but i suspected the main seal so i checking inside the bell housing through the plate on the bottom, it looked bone dry but the little hole in the housing was weeping a little so i felt beind the hole and there was some oil, is this normal?
