Hey,
I\'m fitting a V mount intercooler set-up in my FD and was looking for any sort of advice.
First problem I came across is the Air Con radiator was in the way, what is the norm to move this or do people just remove the air con altogether? wasn\'t too keen on that option though.
The second thing was the steering fluid pipes seem to be in the way, I wanted the radiator to sit lower than it does with these in the way.
I\'ve bought a Koyo direct replacement rad that\'s thicker than the original, but was reading on here that you shouldn\'t use the standard shape rad because of the position of the water pipes?
Can anyone give me some adive on this or ideas.

i scrapped the air con but it can be kept but custom installs are all trial and error i am afraid to say

The air con pipework had to be redone, but instead of using the steering cooler pipework I had one of these fitted.

i know its because my previous efforts have been shall we say fruitless in the field of rx7 performance(bit cryptic but carl understands)

RX7, the splitter has been removed, but tempted to put it back in. Also sitting on top of the rad is the air con rad (out of shot).

That does look like a nice set up, hopefully when I\'m done mine will look half that good!!
Thanks for the reply

Looks impressive Fish.

The power steering cooler pipework is very scruffy on mime and is slung below the fans so it will pick more heat aswell. :Hammer Your small oil cooler looks great but how much cooling does the steering fluid really need?

Keith on track days is where it *should* kick in at its best.

Feelio,

I\'ve included pics of the Koyo rad set-up fitted by RE Worx which I have NOT been very impressed with to say the least and would NOT recomend that the return pipe is routed like that.

The air con rad is shown in the middle which is the normal position for it to go in.

In the second pic I\'ve shown the steering cooler pipework installed with the v-mount but reckon Fish\'s solution is the best though.

Do consider ducting for a v-mount as a must, otherwise the air will take the easiest path and go around the rads.

Fish

Whilst I cannot comment on why ReWorx did this, I am sure they can answer it. Lets just say I wouldnt, as living in London, speed bumps could easily damage/destroy this.

My air con rad is sitting ontop of the radiator, with as smaller gap as possible.

Keith is right to say that a splitter is a good idea, as the radiator normally has tighter veins than an I/C, so the air would will always take the easiest route. :(

Fish regarding ducting, I meant that panels should be placed above, to both sides and also at the bottom to force the air to go into the \'v\' like yours does.

If you look on the American web sites you will see many examples of ducting not only to the v-mount but also for the oil coolers as when you remove the standard bumper and rebar, the oil cooler ducts have a big gap at the top of them (see my first pic above) and again air just spills out.

Fish where did you connect the AST pipe on the rad?

Keith

yep that does look like a re-worx install to me:2Rolleyes

Fish

I have a bleed nipple that connects like the stock radiator.
