I uprated my downpipe to a stainless 3". I used wrap with stainless ties and it does definitley keep the turbo area cooler.

Can i just say if not already said that the fact that wraping a down pipe keeps heat out of the engine is a bi-product and advantage of what its actually designed to do. Buy Wraping the Manifolds/downpipes you trap heat in and arond the exhaust turbine of the turbo. By retaining this heat the turbo actually maintains its ability to run better. SO yes its a good thing to wrap form both points of veiw.

ive no idea mate i bought it from a rally spares stall at trax for my fes rst but never got round to fitting it , its like a fibreglass type asbestos material

Its maybe easyer to paint it with that heat resistant painty stuff, then wrap it :D lol

mine used to be wrapped and by keeping in the heat caused it to fracture twice, as soon as i un-wrapped it and welded it up it was fine, its not split again in over a year.
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

On another car of mine not the RX7 I had a wrapped  jacket for the turbo and the down pipe wrapped and the heat destroyed the Cat.
