Leedslad - Recieved the rev counter 1st thing saturday morning!! Can\'t say i was expecting it that fast! So thanks a lot for the awsome response and mega fast turnaround time matey!

Will try and fit it asap - tho i am away this weekend comming, so will send you my one as soon as i can.

How long am i looking at to change the rev counter? A whole day or just a few hours?

LeedsLad

a couple of hours if you have removed the dash before, if not it\'s a good half a day if NOTHING goes wrong and if something does kiss your day good bye lol. If you run into any trouble let me know and i\'ll try and help you have my number

Cheers Adam

LeedsLad

how the install going mate?

croig

Going to start the transplant tomorrow... hope the operation goes well and she pulls thru it!! :2Rolleyes

croig

ok i seem to have lost your number Leedslad. Or anyone for that matter... having trouble removing this dash...

Any help much appriciated.

I have removed the steering pod, and the gear/handbrake cover, and loosened the actual gauges but that seems all i have done.

Like i said anyhelp if anyone is reading this please!!

croig

progress... the gauge pod is out now...

Trying 2 remove the needle off of my old dial face and put it on my new rev counter... looks like it might break easily...

i have re read this thread and AndyRoi, you said it can be done but be careful - here it goes.. i hope i interpreted that correctly anyway...

croig

needles and facias swapped sucessfully.

All plugged in and working fine!

Just a quick question before i put it all back properly - What should it idle at? Cause at the minute the rev counter is reading about 1750rpm on idle?  That seems a bit high, should it not read about 1000rpm?

Any help appriciated :)

LeedsLad

hey but that is abit high when warm its about 800 when cold about 1500 on mine anyway

croig

Just finished up.:Thumbsup!

I had a long read through every post that had idle somewhere in it! So its now set to 900ish (possibly a nats whisker below 900) but that\'l do for me! As long as i know roughly what im at!

And il now be able to see when the turbos kick in! yay!

Thanks for everyones help, and in particular LeedsLad! Much thanks to you all!:god

I will post you my old rev counter during the week LeedsLad - could you post me your address to croigus@hotmail.com

Thanks again

Does anybody still have a s/h rev counter they don\'t need?
Was also wondering if you need to pull out the whole dash to get to the instrument cluster? I have some of the manuals from the USA in PDF form, but they don\'t make clear as to what you really have to do just to get the rev counter out...

thanks,

Adrian

Hi there Adrian,
To get the instrument section out, I found that I had to take off the steering cowl off, the bit beneath the steering cowl - where the air vent is for the drivers feet, and at the side of the dash - where the drivers side vent seals against the door.

When these three sections were off I found that the instrument cowl could pull forward with some moderate force (be carefull tho!) so you can reach in behind to where the instrument cluster is to undo it.

From here all I think all it was was a case of undoing 4 screws that held in the instruments and the whole lot came out - so you can get to which ever one you need.

Someone might even have an easier way than this!:Thumbs-up

Thanks for the advice Croig, I\'ll probably have a go at taking the instrument cowl off this weekend. I just hope I don\'t break all those little clips holding it in!
