Ok been plodding around the forum just wondering what your opinions on the best ecu to get is,or post which ecu you have price,hp,modifications etc. Getting itchy feet to get started on the rebuild as still in the middle of erecting garage. Bloody windy weather up here is a pain in the ass but getting there. But get VAT back when house and garage is finished so good finance for fc :chat
Little picks of garage going up;)

Brett

Looks good :D  Whats the time frame to get the garage finished?
As for the ECU, I guess it depends what you\'re after?  I used to have a TII with a Panspeed Sports ECU. (Pre-mapped for Filters, exhaust etc)  That ECU gave improoved response in the lower gears, and a bit more punch at high RPM.  (Mainly I was noticing a marked increase in boost from about 3500rpm)

Hope thats of use to you.

I use a Microtech LT10s which is a fully mappable ECU and replaces the original. Very flexible and the software is fairly user friendly.

options that I know of:
Microtech LT8s or LT10s
Haltech (there are a few Haltech options)
Wolf 3D
Greddy E-manage - piggy back ECU
Apexi Power FC (they do make an FC version, but you can adapt the FD version with a cusom loom)
Mark
89 Black FC3S Turbo II
1/2 Bridge port   Microtech LT10s   TII Conv Aluminium Bonnet & Leather seats   Koni Shocks Pi Springs   De-catted 3" exhaust
GT4088 turbo   Walbro fuel pump   1000cc injectors   custom V-Mount   Blitz Boost Controller (ok so the boost controller is still to fit)

Loud? Hell yes! :D

There is also RTEC - which is a chip replacement and piggy back board for a standard ECU - popular US side

the Rtec is only S4 turbo and S5 NA - no S5 Turbo option as of yet

liking the garage though :D

You/he could use a ladder. Takes up less space.

here\'s a price comparison between the Apexi Power FC (standalone replacement) and Greddy E-Manage Ultimate.

->> Power FC, total control of boost, timing and fueling
Power FC + commander £350
Boost control kit £130
FD to FC harness adapter kit £123
3 Bar Map Sensor
FD Intake air temp sensor
FD Igniter & connector £100 ish for all three
Mapping £200 (£300 WGT)
Power FC total = £900-£1000 [ouch]

->> Greddy E-Manage Ultimate
E-Manage and Harness £305 (imported from nengun performance)
Boost Controller £250
Wideband Sensor £100 (To map yourself) or ;
Professional Dyno Mapping £200

Greddy E-Manage total = £655 (or £755)

Anyone got any others?

BenLewisMav

< That\'s not including possible import charges by the way

U could get a Microtech LT8s landed for about £600ish or the LT10s for about £700 that includes the loom etc. They come with a base map which is easy to adjust. Wideband is a bit pricey though.

difference is the LT8s uses the stock ignitors and coils, the LT10s comes with an uprated ignitor module and uprated bosch coils.

Yeah, aluiminium ladder going into the pit, as for mods  i will be running my GT4288 and appropriate fuel, cooling, intercooling mods, also who sets up your ecu\'s as i will have to get boat down, accomidation etc etc, how long for a pro to set it up as well. Thanks for the replys. Hopefully garage will hold up as its meant to be force8-9 tonight and force 10 tomorrow better baton the hatches down :)

kev-yorks

Microtech if you want the easy option there way more flexible than the apexi and can at least control a couple of extra bits on the car. Mapping is pretty straight forward as well being where you are its going to be a DIY job mapping i\'d imagine?

I would prefer to go to the mainland to get it mapped. Is it reasonably straight forward to tune a micro tech, do you go by AFR ratios

BenLewisMav

You install a wideband and monitor the ratios, either live or through logging making sure you set it overly rich beforehand (theres a bit more to it but plenty of guides around, search on here)

The Greddy E-Manage Ultimate has a nice little feature where you plug in a wideband (like the Innovate LM-1 £99 or Bosch Wideband £55) and when you drive it it will automatically adjust the fuelling to the side stoich ratio set.
