Hey folks, new owner here so this will most probably be the first of many questions. I apologise in advance!

Question #1 :
Car stalls when ever I come to a standstill (when the revs drop) it doesn\'t really do it that much when just idling. Car starts fine warm/cold. I read somewhere it could be some tps screw? Anyone any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Question #2 :
I read a buyers guide a while back about rx7s saying that the water temp should never go above half way. Mines sits just slightly higher. If you say 1/2 way is 9 o\'clock, mine is about 9.30. Is this normal? Is there anything I should be looking for, or checking?

Question #3 :
Oil pressure gauge. Sometimes it works, sometimes it says it has zero. I read that this is a common problem? Faulty/dirty sender unit? Is this the case or do I have something to worry about???

Question #4 :
The exhaust sometimes pops (not bangs). It\'s a HKS exhaust with the first cat removed (I think so anyway). I\'ve had cars in the past that do this (pulsar gtir) and it\'s perfectly normal. I\'m just a little weary with the sensitive rotary engine. I don\'t want my new car dying on me!!

Question #5 :
The car makes a sort of sucky sound around 2K revs, then goes about 3ish. The previous owner said it\'s something to do with the air pump and the fact there\'s no first cat? It doesn\'t seem to affect anything other than the noise. He said you can disconnect it, but some people say it would then run lean?

I am new, and I apologise for the 10million questions! Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!! Thanks.

I\'ll try and aswer one or two q\'s you have.
#2 The temp guage is crap if it goes above half way stop at once and let the car cool down. If it has gone above half way the fingers crossed the engines not buggered. If it constantly sits just at the half way then that is not an indication all is weel but its an indcation that all is not bad (if you get what I mean) an aftermarket water temp guage is the best bet.

#3 Stock oil pressure guage is crap. Best fit an aftermarket one again. You don\'t HAVE TOO but the stock one is no use really.

#4 My car poped all the time with no ill effects, it might be that the car is running rich and there is too much unburned fuel. My car was mapped and popped all the time even at very low second into third gear speeds.

save up some money and have the car checked over by an RX specialist. It will be money well spent.

QuoteTemp sits just above half way... and I mean just. Like I said about 9.30ish maybe slightly less instead of dead on 9 o\'clock. (I\'ll take a picture tomorrow). This is once car is warmed up. It never goes above that tho.

TBH, you\'re right.. should get a decent gauge tbh. Like most stock cars the gauges are poor.

Jim_rx7

I\'ve ordered a water temp gauge to monitor things more closely.

RemarkLima

#5 - It\'s the airpump that runs below ~2500 rpm, basically pumps air into the cat to help improve emmissions.
Montego Blue 94 R2 FD3S... Bling not included.

Or the decat pipe?.. lol. Ok cool... thought as much. Will just leave it as is. Sounds mad anyway. :)

It\'s the sender unit causing all the trouble, not too bad to change if you don\'t mind skinned knuckles.

Of more importance is an accurate oil temperature gauge to match the new water temp gauge you have purchased.  I keep a close eye on water and oil temps.

Cheers,

I\'ve got a water temp, oil temp and oil pressure gauge on order.
