How do you know it will work, as in bolt up and clutch & drive shaft & gear shift in the correct place, prop, etc etc as well as take the power. Where is the link to someone who has done it....
You can\'t just post that up Ian without a full explanation.
Kev = Kev York, & Kiwi is ref to the NZ rotary lads.
This problem is world wide and nobody seems to have solved it...

Quote from: Warthogthis is doing my head in I can\'t believe the fact that nobody has solved the gearbox problem for RX7\'s running over 500bhp, without going Dog Box. .:eek

John have a word with //www.quaife.co.uk/ and see if they can sort you out a straight cut box, I know they make an FD cluster or maybe even a complete box but I am not sure if its dog or just straight cut mind you if its straight cut you may as well have a dog box and have fun changing gear.

Also with a dog box the other advantage is that in a stock box you can have bigger gears because you have more room without syncros and bulk rings and things in the way.

Problem is with real horse power helical gears try and force themselves apart.

Have a word with RX Motors Tim and ask him what RX-8 box (5speed or 6) he is running because I understand its coping with the power he has.
All the best Clive

Oh this sounds interesting!!!!:yes

I remember PiP has been using T5 box way back early 1990\'s for his Gen2 race car!

Clive is correct about Quaife as it\'s popular gearsets for Rx in USA

here is the transmisson adapter for TII/T5 box,

Hi Ian I\'ve a mate who drives a reasonable HP Cossie and he goes through gearboxes like there going out of fashion says there\'s noway they will take what i want to chuck through it. I\'m looking at going Dog box emails have gone out to three companies now so its wait and see for now I\'ll just chuck second hand boxes in.

Cosworth T5/FD clutch diameter =240mm/spline=1"x23teeth
morfy the prop-shaft, use T5\'s  gearbox yoke/fd diff yoke
That\'s about it!
Hope its help

RotorHeid

Very difficult to explain about the T5 box in this forum
All I am asking
" who got MFR race box"??

kev-yorks

Sorry for the hijack Ian there\'s a few of us at the moment got gearbox issues we are trying to work around. The mention of a mazda race gearbox got us all going again.
