it actually handles very well on the road, not had a chance to put it on a track yet but it was only every meant for the street.   Its was 1620 with my 14 stone cousin in it.  I\'m not sure how much fuel was in it.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

Quote from: AndyGen3Only coz of its size... If the V8 was compact like the 13B it wud be handy to lift too...

Ahh Andy Andy you are wrong, anyways I did lift engine with the flywheel off .

With both Engines with manifolds/flywheel/water pump housing and stuff the 2 rotor is soooo much lighter then an LS1 Hell even the 3 rotor is the same weight as the LS1 V8

here are the figures read em and weep

LS1 V8 480lbs.

Mazda rotary 2 rotor, 285lbs
Mazda rotary 3 rotor, 480lbs

where this huge difference come from, block itself (20b) can only be 30kg heavier? than twin (13b)

BlitzBoy

those weights are taken with Plenums\\manifolds, turbos I believe, water pumps housings etc so I suppose you got to factor that in on 3 rotor

i have never seen a definate figure for the weight of an FD but i think the tripple is defo more than 100 kg heavier even without the driver.

I think people will be suprised how much their cars weigh if they took them to a weigh bridge.

On the V8 subject,  if you look at Granny speed they give you some figures,  the LS1 is 50 lbs heavier than a Turbo II set up and the same as a Twin Turbo,   the book i am looking at says LS1 is 430lbs for a complete block,  gotta remember that their inlet is nylon and only weighs 3lbs.  The LS/1 has no oil coolers and no intercooler or pipe work,  also the sump is ali.

Found this else where:

"Weighed my LS6 FD"

I had my car corner weighted at an autox test and tune day (it was a private event and not affiliated with SCCA so it was TONS of fun). Anyway with the spare and jack in, 3/4 a tank of gas the weights are as follows:

2808 total = 1274 kilos
50.8% Front / Rear
49.7% Left / Right

thats interesting but i would guess that its a stripped out track car from what he has said.

Funny enough his next post was
"Absolutely no type of weight reduction done. Full working stereo and CD player in the car as well. Like I said, only removed PS pump which at best is 10 lbs. The brackets are Aluminum."

hmm I find that hard to believe about the weight of American guys FD, Im sure we can get the guys in this country with the RX7 V8s to weigh their cars

A stock FD weighs in at 1270-80 Type R/RS/RZ 1310 for the type X.
A modified Single turbo gets rid of the heavy twin turbo pack so it will be lighter still.

The Oz special the "SP" version weighed in at 1219, thats was with various lightweight body parts

My blue one and max\'s silver one were in the 1250 bracket (one about 10kg each side) on a set of brand new corner weights. Both single turbo, missing a bit of interior and with half cages.

I agree, it does sound very optimistic but I just cut and paste as I find.:Typing

Wow, I didn\'t think it would be any where near that much! :eek

Don\'t laugh but I have a plan. As I\'m about to take my fd engine out I\'m going out and buy 2 bathroom sclaes put a bit of wood across them and weigh the engine with all of it\'s ancillaries. I\'ll let you know how I get on next week:evillaugh
