Hi all.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can someone help me ?

Do you need a visual indicator (i.e. Light) to let the driver know inside the car that the foglight is on to pass an MOT ?

If so how have people done this...?

Can anyone let me know what wire (colour) does what behind the switch as I assume it is very esay to splice in a light...

Tomson.

P.S. MOT tomorrow, so need this info ASAP please

hi

I think u need a visual indicater in the cabin and the foglight has to be red.

If it is not for the SVA then you can get away with converting one of your reverse lights into a fog. And paint the inside red to get it to glow red. I am not sure of the wiring off the top of my head as i tend to figure it out as i go along.

Sorry cannot be of any more help then that.

Allready got the foglight wired up and painted red, passed MOT last year.  I looked under the centre console to find a light that was obviously used last MOT and passed up through the spare hole, and then tucked back under.

Not connected anymore..

I suppose all I need to know is which colours mazda use under there for the sitched live (when button pressed) and what colour they use as earth/ground.

As far as i know you do need a light on the dash to indicate, as for the colour behind the switch, do you not have a volt tester?

The cable you want for the indicator light is the one that gets power ONLY when the switch is on!!

If you don\'t have a tester then connect a 12v bulb to a short piece of cable (make sure you connect the negative side to the body of the car!!) then stick the cable to the back of the connectors where the cable meets the switch, when it lights up bingo! Make sure the bulb goes out when the switch is switched off otherwise you have connected it to the power in side of the switch as apposed to the power out.

Hope it helps

This is my plan â€" I already have an LED from my Cobra 7928 alarm in the unused centre switch in the console over the gearbox (does that make sense ?).  I am going to find out which wire goes live when the foglight is on, using my proddy piece with a bulb in.  I then intend to splice a wire onto this and attach it to the 12v on the alarm LED.

The alarm LED is already earthed so this should work as it is not being used when the car is being driven.

Can anyone see any problems with this ?  Or will this cause the fog’s to light when the alarm LED flashes, or blow up the alarm ?

Any ideas.

I don\'t see a problem in theory, but don\'t quote me on that!
The only potential problem is if you had both the alarm and the fog lights on at the same time, at the very least it would blow the LED, but i cannot really think of a situation where that would arise.....

Tried it and did not work, Found the wire though, it is the big white one for those who need to know.

Just soldered in the led and earth the other end to one of the screws holding the console - works well.

For the moment I have just pushed it ut the edge of the handbrake gaitor - it looks quite good but is easily pushed in when not required.
