Hi all. I\'m new to the site. Registered up after purchasing my very first Rotary.

The car is question is a 1993 UK-SPEC 3rd Gen RX7 Twin Turbo, manual, silver and a few trick mods. :D

Am well chuffed with it to say the least with her. Am just starting this thread to post pics up of her when I get round to take some of her when I find the time...

... and to also see if there are any other RX7 owners and members of this site that are around the Nottingham / Nottinghamshire / Midlands area which I can network with, to help me become an active member of the Rotary scene in my area.

Hope this thread is welcomed and not out of place. With any luck, will hear from some of you soon.

Good morning and welcome.
Good to see more members joining in the east midlands area. Unfortunatley its a bit of a rotary black hole im afraid and theres not many about round here. So more the merrier I say. And uk cars are by far the best and the fastest:D :D :D :wave :Thumbs-up

Regards Andy

Welcome Kyle!

I\'m in the Nottingham area, used to live in Keyworth and I\'m now in the city centre.  My rex is currently sitting out the winter on axle stands but as soon as the weather picks up I\'ll be out in her so we\'ll have to meet up.

Kind Regards

Jake

Hallo and welcome, I believe d-king is next door to you in Heanor! I\'m in Chesterfield so a bit north of you and currently it\'s on axle stands mid-way through an engine transplant :)

Ahhh. Good to see that there are quite a few Rex\'s in my area. Be good to arrange a meet at some point in our area. Having been members of various vehicle forums, the Midlands area always seems a tad dead. We should make the effort at some point. Be good to get more involved in the Rotary community.

I take it that you guys don\'t use your Rex\'s during the Winter months? Mine will be my daily driver, weekend fun and show car all in one. Hopefully it works out that way.

I\'m currently getting a few bits for it such as gauge pods, boost gauge, water temp gauge, oil temp gauge, HKS dump valve, HKS intake. Am thinking of getting hold of a direct replacement aluminium performance Koyo radiator, HKS cat-back exhaust system (to replace the Racing Beat one it has at the moment).

It\'s due it\'s 24k service - the big one. Needs a couple of bushes. Will have all of the above fitted and have the vacuum pipes replaced. THINK WGT is our local specialist, in Middleton. Right? Still a fair trek at over an hour!

Wheels are sorted. Has rare Works Emotion 18-inch set-up. Mint condition in Ventus tyres.

Was thinking about de-catting it and fitting a better intercooler, but think I would have to play with the engine management to do so. Right?

You guys recommend any other mods?
Cheers,
Kyle.

I met Fletcher - with the 1997 spec Jap import TT Rex, in white. He\'s in Long Eaton also. Not sure if he\'s a member on here though.

I\'ve also seen a red Rex kicking around the Long Eaton area before. Black alloys, black Jap spoiler, tints, etc. Not sure who\'s that is. Could be d-king\'s?

Jake

Yeah as soon as you start de-catting you want to start looking at engine management or it could spell trouble.  The Apexi Power FC tends to be the weapon of choice for the Rex although there are other options.

Tiger_kpt

It\'s already had the troublesome pre-cat removed by fitting a performance downpipe. But it still retains the main centre section cat. I\'ve had that the pre-cat is responsible for ALOT of the Rotary engine rebuilds around the 60k miles mark. That\'s what i\'ve heard anyway, but may be a myth.

My Rex is on 109k. Had a full rebuild at Rototechnics at 65k miles. So new engine done around 45k miles. The specialist rebuilt engine apparently lasts longer than the Mazda factory build. Due to them using much better parts. Again, may be a myth.

probedb

Probably a myth, most tuners will use Mazda OEM parts as they\'re usually better than others.

Definitely look at a PFC if you get rid of the main cat, will get you more power once mapped anyways and best to be safe :)

I use mine as my main car but I commute to work on foot and train so don\'t drive it every day. Currently transplanting a 30k engine block into it and keeping mine for a full on rebuild over time as funds allow.

Hey,

I\'m near Melton Mowbray so not too far from you. I\'ve also got a 93 UK FD, mines in Montego Blue. Few bits planned for the summer $$$\'s permitting.

Jake - Still to get the downpipe from you fitted. Should be done same time as getting power FC and mapping done.

Cheers

Hi GeckoGareth, yeah not too far away from me then. I live in Nottingham, but work in Leicester at the CAT plant, Desford.
Yeah mine\'s a UK spec FD13, silver.

G@NDY - If I do remove this to replace it with another branded tail pipe then i\'ll surely give you a shout.

Just out of interest... how many UK spec RX7\'s are left these days? Was there only 124 ever made / sold?

G@NDY

^ Thanks buddy.
