It\'s looking like my clutch maybe feeling like retiring & rather than totally killing it while drifting at Silverstone this weekend i\'ve managed to get booked in with Pip on Friday for an Exeddy single jobby. Anyone got any experiance with these bad boys or other such goodies?
Not going to be doing silly power so figure a twin or owt is totally unnecessary but would like a meaty single which can take suitable levels of abuse at POD etc any further thoughts by you folks?
Also what\'s the story with flywheels etc just when i had to replace my clutch on scooby, went with AP organic are they any good on FD\'s?, i had a slightly lighter flywheel put on as well & that did seem rather good any cunning plans on that or any other front while i\'m going down the clutch route?
Cheers

I had an Exedy Hyper Single plate clutch/flywheel combo fitted last week.

Peddle is just as lite as before, but it is VERY digital, i.e. not that road friendly.

I would say just get yourself a stock clutch as they can take plenty of abuse.

As for the flywheel, this came as part of the kit, but the counter weight didnt! I also had fitted a new bearing and release arm.

I dont think AP do clutches for the FD. But I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

dumb ass mode on (again lol) what do you mean by very digital? Like all or nothing or er well what? IS there a list of all the exeddy ones as well i recall they were slightly more extreme, cerametalic or sumin , varieties but not sure of all the different singles they do, did have a link yestered but i\'ll be damned if i can find the wee booger now lol.
Pip did give me a list of the different ones he had & i\'ve provisionally gone for the exeddy un which is only £100 more than the standard clutch so as i say not going too extreme but doesn\'t hurt to consider options.......

As you say, all or nothing.

I dont have a list of the different types, but you could always look at the Exedy website.

Coincidentally one of the main Exedy men joined the forum today.

l would like to Welcome him to MRC and to feel free about commenting on any of the above.

p.s. Si Don\'t worry as you have only gone for a first upgrade clutch which l suspect will have an organic centre plate from the price you have quoted so it will probably feel the same as driveing with a stock clutch unit fitted.
All the best Clive

oh oh you reckon i can seduce them into sorting a group buy out by Friday http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008\' target=\'_blank\'>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_105.gif\' border=0> lol......
Seriously thou yeah i presume the one i\'m going for wont be too extreme or owt but figured i may as well go for an upgrade however mild by comparison with some of the more full on alternatives.
Anyone know what the running in story is with the different exeddy clutches though just AP un on scoob i was told i could attack from the word go but not sure if iit\'s the same with which clutch & i am going to be giving it quite a bit of stick on Sunday at Silverstone presumably so would be nice to know if i need to be getting silly miles in on Sat, although i probably will anyway just to get used to it........

The twin plate Exedy\'s have a light, almost stock pedal feel too with the take up being reasonably road friendly.
Kind regards

I have had the Exedy Single Plate fitted, it is Cera-metalic and provides excellent grip although as Danny says its a little harsh at take off. Very easy to master though once its worn in a little

The stock clutch on mine could not handle the mild upgrades and was soon on its way out so I would reccomend the Exedy

What price did you get from Pip inc. fitting?

When I discussed uprating he reccomended a single-plate exedy - will have to do it when I go for the rest of this summers mods as I don\'t trust the stock one to cope (no clue what state it\'s in though until it\'s replaced).

edit: price i was quoted was £495 (i guess not including fitting but that was as part of the rebuild quote...)

as i say cant remember now exactly which exeddy clutch it was i said to put me down for but he quoted £275 on a standard un & £375 for the exeddy so i went for that, he did mention some more expensive ones but seemed like overkill at the stage i\'m at, & fitting £125.

£375 sounds like a stock clutch with an upgraded Exedy cerametalic driven plate? or some thing along those lines. Hyper singles are £500+, Hyper twin over a grand I\'m sure...both the Hyper cluthces come in kits with flywheel I believe. But as Danny says you still need a counter weight.

I think :)

hyper single kit is over £500 with lightened flywheel

single exedy clutch on its own is slightly less, i got that but with out the flywheel

afaik
