Sounds like you have an on board amp which runs them, you need to find the amp and then work out which is the remote turn on for the amp

Crazy Eddie

Is the stereo deffinately a working 1?
If no sound and all lights are on check the obvious:
Volume turned up and not on MUTE!! :D
Then check wires to speakers are ok.
The only thing that would cause the stero not to produce sound that I can think of is that the output chip has blown ie speaker wires touched each other while stero on.
If that was the case then you could use an external amp using the phono leads as apposed the speaker wires and then it would bypass output chip and work again.
Couple of things to look at and I hope you get it sorted.

the stereo works fine as ive tryed it in my dads car it was all working fine with the old stereo yesturday.

where can i find this onboard amp and how do find the remote turn on.

the amp could be anywhere in the car so its best for a trip to the stealer to find that out, then you need to sit with the multi tester and find a switch wire in the iso block which is the remote turn on

I had this problem when I first fitted a single din to a Bose system.
My notes show that I had to connect the blue/white wire on the headset to the light green/black on the car harness. This gives the car amp a power supply.
Let me know how you get on.

Phil
