Wanted to go for a blast in the FC this morning (actually only to warm it up to move it the twenty yards from the garage down to the house so I could refit the passenger seat, now that the roof\'s watertight again) and it cranked in a somewhat, err, unenthusiatic fashion. No fire in that hole  .

The battery\'s currently on the charger which is chucking current in to the tune of 8 amps  :( and I\'m not impressed, given that I had driven the car for nearly 400 miles only two weeks ago. So far it always survived two-three weeks without being run so that doesn\'t look good for the battery.

Any recommendations for a high-quality battery that fits an FC before I get on with it and order a Varta?

I just hope that I haven\'t flooded the engine, that would be a tad neg.

I know the feeling, I\'ve had various cars on and off the road for the past 8 months and I\'ve killed 3 batteries (storage with no power for chargers :( )

Many moons ago, I had a brand spanker come with my kit car, I completly forgot to keep it charged and it died!  :(   So I have one of those trickle (sp?)chargers now :D

Well, I do have a trickle charger (got a few old bikes, you see) but the battery should really survive two weeks without external help...

Anyway, recharged the battery and it fired up straight away so at least I hadn\'t flooded it. Phew. Nevertheless I think I\'ll have to fill the coffers of my local motor factors again...

I think that\'s what these micro-batteries tend to do!-could be wrong:o

An AA man once told me, when he came to jump-start my car after I\'d left the lights on, that you should trickle charge a flat battery at 2 amps or so for a few days. Trying to charge it at a current above that sometimes didn\'t work as the battery would be too flat to take the sudden surge of current and could flip the polarity of the battery which would kill it. Hence if you have to jump start a car, the alternator will throw a huge current at the battery, which didn\'t always work if it was really out of charge.
