Hi ya guys

I\'ve gone and bloody broken it again, let me explain then hopefully someone can shed some light.

I took the car out, warmed it up properly, then I took it for a bit of a thrash, on the way back I saw some boy racers so I thought I\'d have some fun, i was on a duel carrigeway at about 30 when to overtake me on the run, I waited till they were level and boosted it and shot off, drove round the corner came off the throttle and it went a little jerky, popped the car into neutral and now its revving itself.

If I start the car on the driveway it starts revving itself from 800rpm to about 3000rpm and back constantly, really not sure what I\'ve done now, I managed to drive it home it will boost as normal under WOT and I got it home by holding it at 4k and slipping the clutch.

Found this else where it might help

"Use some thick rubber (maybe a couple mousepads?) and jam them in between the hood and front clip halfway between the middle of the hood and the driver\'s headlight. Insert a screw driver between the pads and pry the hood as far as you dare without cracking the front clip. Shine a flashlight in there and study the latch for a moment. You will probably see the release cable and can then guess where it went. There is a small slot on the bottom of the latch and about a quarter inch through that slot is the release lever. Get a coat hanger and bend a small hook in it; it has to fit through the slot. Feed the hanger in from the junction of the headlight and front edge of the hood. You will be reaching all the way under the hood across to the latch. Keep fishing in the slot until you grab the release and give a little tug. Keep the hood pried up and shine the light in to see what you are doing. You don\'t have to pull hard at all to pop it so if you feel a lot of resistance you missed."

Ok looks like I\'m going to have to give this a go unless anyone can think of a better technique, was wondering what my chances of getting to it from underneath are

I had my bonnet release break a few month back. To open the bonnet I used a similar technique to Spartacus by using a metal coat hanger but slightly different.

When mine broke it was actually the green plastic part on the end of the cable covering sheath that broke. When this breaks the cable simply drops out of position.

All I had to do was get the coat hanger, hook it round the cable, pull the cable more or less back into place whilst my wife opened the bonnet as normal from inside the car.

This really was a simple fix for me I know other people had had far bigger problems. I did look at trying to release the bonnet from underneath as well initially but looked like a massive job.

Hope you get it sorted soon?

sounds like a boost leak to me. Probably popped a pipe under heavy boost.

I would suspect that it is somthing like that as soon as I can get under the bonnet I\'ll get involved, and it did have its MOT last week and was finel lol.
