Alternator or Battery

Sorry for the doofus question but what\'s the easiest way to find out if your alty is duff or the battery it\'s charding?

I usually put a voltmeter on the battery to determine if it\'s getting enough charge. If not it\'s your alternator, otherwise it\'s your battery (If you\'re having a charge problem that is)
