My rims are a bit tatty, and short of replacing them, what can I use to bring some of the shine back...

I live near the coast, so salt is a problem...  :(

The laquer is starting to bubble, so it might be a lost cause, but I\'d like to give it a shot - I had a look in halfrauds and they do have some stuff, but it nearly all says "NOT FOR CHROME, and NOT FOR SPLIT RIMS"

mne aren\'t exactly chrome, just steel i reckon, but what should I use...?

i use autosol from halfords for stainless steel etc. autoglym also do a metal polish. a mate did his split rims with it by taking them completely apart-bolts and all. it took him ages but the wheels looked almost new by the time he had finished!

Having just had mine hand polished, the company recommended I keep the wheels clean using Brasso.

Works a treat. Wheels gleam beautifully.

Also, handy tip, if you don\'t get a chance to clean them asap after being out on a drive where they\'ve got dirtied, it helps to spray them down with WD40 until you get to a time when you can clean them..

This relates to hand polished though, but it may be of use/interest..

Brasso is an abrasive cleaner though, right?

Wouldn\'t want to put that on any laquered / chromed wheels...

Yes, I believe it is..

Guess that\'s only a useful tip for hand polished wheels then...
