What\'s the import situation with Rex\'s now, do they have to be 10 years or older or are there model reports available?

Jono FD3

Don\'t think you can get the model report for a REX???
best thing to do is gave an importer a ring to find out the score!!!
Think a 98 is the youngest you can import now!!

No model report at present.

Only cars that can be imported are those that fit the 10 year rule. So your looking at a Jan 1997 at the latest atm

What is the ten year rule all about ???

Imports that are older than 10 years don\'t have to be SVA\'d.

if there 9 year old they need an sva test but no model report.

Thing is.... Why do you need an SVA if the car is younger than 10 years but not if it\'s older??? kind of a GAY rule if you ask me!!!

Yep it is, i have to SVA and ESVA at least 12 cars a year and its a pain, its all a load of Bull as small things like standard british tail pipes wont pass an SVA or ESVA and they dont have a rounded edge to them, yet they are put on cars from factory.

Like i say its all Bull.

The whole model report was brought in basically to crush what was left of the free enterprise.  Basically they dont want people getting a good deal from grey importers (i.e. cheaper than from a dealer).  Thats why there not bothered if there 10 years old or more.

I wound down my import company because of this and I know many others who have lost there business because of this new law.

This government is fantastic......:spank

Oh yes, new labour....the champions of free enterprise! They want everyone working for the civil service, I read somewhere that 1 in 4 employed people work either directly or indirectly for the government!

Certainly odd... then there is the sva or esva confusion , it was always 96-97 cars needed and sva but cars 98 on were esva.... but now there is huge confusion over the ten year rule as we are now in 2007...so 97 cars are 10 years old.. so in theory the 10 year rule should apply...

Total farse... sums up this country to be quite honest... its a joke.

hi guys

yeah i bought 1996 rx in 2005 couldnt find a model report anywhere.so i had to wait till may 2006 to be ten years old then all i needed was a normal MOT certificate and import documents to get it registered.
I had the same problem with my previous car a 98 impreza type r. i had it parked in my drive for almost a year .Although officially there was not a model report for that car a i managed to find someone who found away around it.
The DVLA have a list of model reports and where you can obtain them somewhere on thier website.

cheers
