Been having problems with the common squeaky wipers. Jono says that the wiper pivot box mechanism is a sealed unit. However, some of Donato\'s posts in the past suggest that there\'s a nylon bush inside that needs greasing up - which suggests that these units are possible to take apart. Does anyone know how to do this?

Can I be smug now? I figured it out, and managed to open it, remove the rust, re-greased it, and re-assembled it. Now works much better, easier to move, and no longer squeaks. It\'s a bit of a bugger to open, but when you know how, it makes sense.

How how how!!!!!

Means I can clean the old one and keep it as a spair!!

It\'s difficult to explain. But i shall try my best. If you look at the pivot arm at the top, you\'ll notice a washer there. Holding that washer in place, is a very small circlip that sits in a groove in the pivot arm. Now, this circlip didn\'t even want to budge, and i scratched my head trying to figure out how to get it off. In the end, I opened a pair of mole grips and with one end I placed on the washer, and the other I placed at the other end of the pivot arm and closed the mole grips - this meant that the pivot arm was pushed up very slightly allowing the washer to spin freely and the circlip to pop out with a bit of encouragement. Once the circlip is out, the washer comes off. Then you can push the pivot arm out and it\'s dissasembled. Assembly is the reverse. PM me if you want a bit more help with it.
