solid corner seals, good for the right aplication

There is a Big debate about these seals but i have them in my car and not had any problems??

They say that stock Corner seals can take just as much abuse as the Solid ones but its like the 3mm Apex Debate There is not alot of proof to say one way or another if there better or not so people go off experiance, I personaly have used  Stock Mazda, Uprated mazda and Atkins (Cryo treated) and i\'ve only seen one go and that was becouse of Rotor damage?? (Apex let loose)

more strength because there is no bore at the bottom of the slot for corner seal plug, simple as that

Yeh you would think so would\'nt you but its the metal there made from thats the key here, the Atkins ones are Soft and tend to bend rather than snap (so they bind the Apex\'s) the Stockers tend to Snap in half and i realy don\'t know how the Mazda speed ones go as i\'ve never seen one Broken? but both the Mazda ones have the Corner plugs.

Its like Apex seals again, there are seals out there that Garantee they will not brake and show pics of them bent to all kinds of shapes, But you use them and you\'ll soon find out why mazda did\'nt go with a Soft Metal like that (They Trash housings FAST!!) it works the same way with the Corner seals (they cause the plates to wear quicker)

As always my Advice would be stick with Mazda OE, if you feel the Corner seals are week get the Mazdaspeed ones.

I find with rotarys you get what you pay for if its Cheap as why?

Apparently the solids wear out the side seal quicker, They are good for big extended ports where you normally would have to remove the black inner plug on a stock corner seal.

Funny thing is that Mazda make both types.
When the holes for the corner seals wear out,the only replacements you can get that are oversize from Mazda are solid corner seals.
The material that the Mazda ones are made from is actually quite interesting.
They are steel, coated with chrome on the rubbing surfaces,ALL of them are like this from Mazda.
So the side seals are actually touching and wearing against the same surface in all of the corner seals that Mazda make.
The surface that faces outwards also has a chrome plate to assist wear on the side housings.
If you are building a very serious engine then it is good to use the solids from the point of view that they don\'t break as easy as the ones with the inserts.
