all these different figures are doing my head in wgt figures blow my mind........not much point putting people on graphs or lists until we can all see what the difference is between pips dyno and reworx dyno. (most commonly used ones) Has anyone or is anyone gonna get their dyno\'s done at both places so that we can all see?

just a thought!...hope it makes sense:o

I bet someone is gonna throw another dyno reading from an unknown dyno to really cock things up!!!:spank :(

At the Thor dyno day in may there was a couple of cars that been dyno\'d at both Reworx and Pips and the Reworx figures where slightly higher than the hub dyno figures from Pips/Thor when compared. The WGT, Thor figures where very similar but they do use the same type of dyno so this would be expected.

Kev the reason the diff between thor , wgt and re:worx figures would be down to reading at the hubs and atw figures do come out pretty close when calc is put in for corrections.
Ross which version software are you using the 3.4 is a real so and so. But 3.3 it great to use, pity we didn\'t realise the nos was not working at the time:)

Ed this thread and the table is just a bit of fun at the end of the day, the only figures I will be displaying is "AT THE WHEELS" or "AT THE HUBS" does not matter which Dyno is used , this thread is all PUB TALK and to generate banter

I know:)

Without keeping on repeating myself [and yes I know you can not use one example as the be all and end all, but, I think it gives a clear indication] hubs as a rule give something like a 10% higher reading than a Wheel dyno, so if you have a 300atw reading this will be roughly 330ath or 352ish as a f/w reading or as Ross has said the 1/4 terminal is the defining power output. Where is Glen when you need him, he put up somewhere a comparision between horsepower and terminal speeds

What is quite comical is that hub dyno\'s are also giving LOWER readings in some cases than wheel driven dyno\'s ones.
That is what Kev is saying too.

Hi all, John - just happened to catch this (so many emails coming in these days!).

Some of the online calculators out there are very good - and generally speaking, ET\'s/MPH\'s can be calculated by mathematics of course.

To run x mph, with x conditions (Air Temp/Humidity), with x weight, x tyre width/height (traction), x gearbox ratios, x final drive ratio, and of course x hp.  Obviously x ET will change due to traction conditions, and gear selection, etc. etc.

Simply though, you can just look at the Weight with HP to make calcs.

You have to be as accurate as possible with weight, don\'t kid yourself - add everything like how much fuel in tank, driver weight, are they standard wheels? Roll cage? etc..

Standard Series 8 FD (Type R = 1260kgs which is 2777lbs)
Driver: 75kgs = 165lbs
Fuel: 40 litres = 40kgs = 88lbs    (roughly 1kg per litre)

Approx Total: 1375kg = 3030.5lbs

This is pretty cool: http://www.speedworldmotorplex.com/calc.htm

Another: http://www.dsm.org/tools/calchp.htm

http://www.fastcoolcars.com/hp_calculator.htm

This one is very good and goes into the Mathematics of it all:

There are many more sites out there.

Do some quick calcs. based on Ross\' MPH :)
Thanks,

These calculators all reckon I have 541rwhp based on 3021 lbs & trap speed of 131.9

DRAGON

I got 845bhp @ 1200Kilos and a 160mph termainal

antnicuk

well based on my lardy full trim FC at 3100 lbs with the run i did at RS3, the trap speed is saying 412 atw and 486 at the fly.

Th ET calculator is saying 337 & 398 whic is more likely as i only running one bar, so something is not very accurate some where.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Table now updated, will PM Iaint to update the main table sticky with this.
We have had a massive 8 people drop off the table! and now the lowest atw/ath figures is a huge 271
