Currently replacing the Bose system in my type X with an aftermarket unit. Trying to keep things simple, so I\'m trying to use exisiting wiring where possible.

Rewired the original loom to ISO connectors, but worried about the main feed; on the Bose the head units don\'t have an amp, so the feed wire is pretty skinny (maybe 0.75mm?). However, the new head unit with its internal amp has fatter cabling. The old wiring is protected by a 10a fuse, as is my new head, so this implies to me that the wiring should be OK as the fuse should be lower rating than the wiring. Any comments? I was thinking about taking the feed from the existing amp relay (30a) but that\'s a bit of a pain, so I\'d appreciate some advice.

Thanks
Mave.

Just replied over on fd:uk. I did what you\'re planning and wired an ISO connector to the standard wiring and it\'s been going fine with an Alpine CDA-9855R on the end of it!

Cheers mate, I posted an image on FDUK so you can see the size difference, I think I\'m going to give it a go with the existing wiring, and blast it at high volume for 10 minutes to see if anything gets warm!

I currently have an Apline head unit wired up to the original loom but has the connector cut off as you know, can get a photo of how this was installed professional at the weekend if you want.

Cheers mate, a photo confirming that there is skinny wiring somewhere in the switched feed would make me feel comfortable, although to be honest I\'m getting positive feedback from a number of people.

Ok mate will have look this weekend for you.

Hi mate

Have had a look, on my loom there are three thick wires coming from the head unit into three skinny ones in the original wiring loom, i think one is in the switch  feed and on the live feed also.

Can email pics if needed but it sounds like your on the right lines.
