Iv gota head off to amercia next week and iv managed to track down a turbo that seems very reasonably prices.  It a garrett t4 and the description is as follows

THIS  IS  A   BIG  GARRETT  M24   PORTED T4  TURBOCHARGER  WITH  A  4\'\'  INTAKE AND 4\'\' EXHAUST V-CLAMP STL, P--TRIM TURBINE WHEEL STD SHAFT. 54-TRIM COMP WHEEL,   CAME  OFF  A  13BT  1992  MAZDA  RX7,  USED  IN  GREAT  CONDITION, A/R .70 ON  THE  COMP  AND A/R 1.32 ON  T4  DIVIDED ON THE HOT SIDE.
Can anyone tell me if this is any good for a single conversion? I have been asured by the seller that it has come off a fd3 rx7 but would like some advice.

He said that he was running this on a unported engine with fueling and cooling upgrade and made 400bhp at the wheels (could be much more with uprated angine)

Has anyone used one of these and is it any good??

cheers

im running a non ported engine and plan to stay that way as its newly rebuilt.  If this is not suitable then would anyone be interestead in it? or a swap for a more suitable single turbo? it just seems to good an opertunity to waste,

1.34 A/R Turbine housing is quite large and could be laggy.  Could be good for lots of boost and drag racing.

that also means it realy would suit a ported angine then?

Yeap - its definately not going to be a turbo for a stock engine.  Something like a GT35/40 would be ideal for your motor if it\'s stock.

Turbonetics do a nice range of turbos which would be perfectly suited and you could pick one up mucho cheaply out there (around £600-700) but remember you\'ll need a manifold, downpipe, wastegate and some ancillaries.

any idea on the manifold and where i can obtain one from prob the down pipe to.  have the fueling side sitting at home now and the cooler/rad set up, plus have the fc on too.

Will have a chat with the guy that has this turbo for sale and see what he has to offer.  They seem to be so much cheaper in the US ans i have to ship products in daily from there so shipping not a problem!

See my previous thread, I bought my tub from america after much deliberation

see about halfway down

Is defo worth buying from us to save money, but just get the right turbo.  GT35R would be best as stated above, or a nice T04S or T04R like mine..

This is sort of Right, How it usaly works, If you have a Turbo with a Small Housing you get Fast spool and low Hp (for the Turbo size) but the thing is alot of people like the Big Housings becouse the Power Delivery is more Progresive most people don\'t want 400hp low down the rev range and you get alot less heat.

All depends on What Hp you are Aiming for and what Boost you want to run?

Of course and what other mods you have.

The thing i found was when i bought my First Big Turbo i went for a .84 (which was fine for low Boost etc) but shortly after i Poped my Motor and rebuilt it with a Big Extended Port, this started my Exhaust Temps to Rise and i was told if i wanted to run any more Power i needed to Up the Size of the Housing. Idealy you want a .96/1.15 on a Stock motor with a Bit of room for expansion, 1.3 is defo for a bigish Ported motor but if you have plans for a Rebuild its worth Keeping in mind the Port?
