Keep it simple first take the Plugs out and turn it over (You should hear loud Pshhh Noises)

Then if there is Lots of White vapor coming out of the Plug Holes and you are Happy you have a Spark Charge the battery up well and toe it round the Block, if you turn the Ign on and slowly let the Clutch out (with it in second and leave it out) you can turn the Motor over Quicker and using less Juice from the battery and 9 times out of 10 it will start. (thats unless its an Auto)

make sure there is Nothing wrong like Oil in water, water in oil etc i keep hearing of a muppet i know thats rebuilt his motor and got less than 3 bar of Compression  (that realy does not like starting), its easly done if you have never done one before and doing it on the cheap.

mine did this the other day it would just try to fire a few times and turn over and over and over i took the plugs out that were soaked so put some new ones in it, and its fine, a little worring was the small patch of fuel under the car as it was turning over? dunno if this is normal or if i have a leak?

Flatty....ex-scooby owner? :)

Its Andy G, was speaking to Nige the other day was saying you have got yourself a rex now :)

Hope you get your prob sorted ok

BTW are you still on the standard ECU, the mods you\'ve got will put you right on the limit if not over what you can get away with on the standard one

Where abouts is the Fuel leak, You realy need to get it sorted as these things don\'t like loose fuel......

The Pulsation Damper on the end of the fuel rail is the Usal Center of all Leaks, don\'t need to knock them much to start them leaking.

thing is as soon as i cleared it out put the new plugs in and its fired up the leak has gone? do i need to pull the top part of the manifold off to get to the fuel rail and reg?

Yep sure do..

Are you sure it was fuel? could it have just be Residual fuel that was just knocking about?

the whole story is the car has been living at my dads garage in the mot bay everymorning he takes it out and everynite he puts it in, i take it for a run now n then to make sure it dont clog up, the other day dad rang and said this bloody car wont start, so i went up and span it over and over  and over, now n then it would fire then just turn over and over, i looked under the car and saw a small patch of fuel dripping from the o/s of the engine, i jacked it up and it looked like it was dripping from the turbo, my first thought is that the thing is flooded that bad that fuel is being washed down the exhaust and it was just leaking out from the turbo(eg the bit where the actuator arm goes inside the turbo, so i pulled the plugs out and span it over and loads of fuel vapour came out, put in some new plugs and it went first turn and ran sweet now the leak has gone, but now its on my mind....

Yeah still got mine, its been off the road for the last year as I brought a house and it devoured my wallet! Planning a revival over the winter though hopefully be back in action late spring :)

Got yourself a very nice looking motor, yeah we\'ll have to meet up when your up and running, would like to come and have a butchers. How did you get on with the rebuild, any probs or was it all plain sailing?

Theres no tuners local really, for my map I ended up going to WGT in Chesire, but that was only cos my g/f was at Uni up that way so made it convienient.
There is Carl near Newbury, and Reworx in Southampton, quite a hike but both good tuners, and Dragon quite a bit further along in Devon!  Once you\'ve got the PFC you should be safe on the base map to start with as its a bit on the rich side so you\'d be ok driving to the further away places. If you wanted to make sure it will safe I have my old cat which you could put on for a while (if its still any good!) to make sure it wasnt lean, but like I say you should be alright. WI kit is the way forward on these, well worth looking into :)

I know a couple of people local-ish who do their own mapping, they might be willing to do it if you didnt want the drive. Nemesis might do it in colc, if there still up and running, but dont know enough about them to recommend them, all the ones above will give you a good map.

Jimmys in Norwich is great for parts, servicing, etc, but doesnt do mapping.

FINALY!!!!!

after messin about the last few days.... gettin no where!

decided towing it was the only option,so off came the bumper (couldnt get to towing eye with it on which is realy handy!!)towed it backwars out the garage and up my drive, then towed it bout 20mtrs let the clutch out and she fired!!!

after a bit of a run, a smokey run!, she is now fine running sweetly and starts hot or cold on the button!

so the diy rebuil seems to have done the trick!
i used hurley uprated tips and seals etc - dont no what peoples opinions are on these?

thanks for the help guys

You dont need to remove the bumper. Just seperate the bumper and the splitter, and the tow-rope goes in there.

Well done on the rebuild, and on getting her started. !!!!  :-)
