Fitted my boost controller now! :D

However, the instructions make about as much sense as video instructions!

I\'m not sure what settings i need!

I\'m really after two sets at the moment: Settings to run for 0.5 bar, and them later for when i get her mapped, settings for 1.0 bar.

Can anyone suggest good settings....or tell me in english what each setting does!! All i have done at the moment is set the warning to 0.55 (I assume this is bar, but I\'m not 100% at the moment), the warning limiter to 20% and the set gain to 0.40 (Which is the boost at which to open the wastegate, is that right?). Everything else is stock.

Last night it hit 0.53 bar in third gear and the wastegate still hadn\'t opened! But this morning it was starting to open at about 0.35!

The unit works in PSI on some settings, and in % of your max boost on some of the other settings

I would recommend setting the limit (which is in PSI) to the max value you want to ever go to, which will prevent boost beyond that setting.

Then for the LO and HI settings you can set the % of max system boost (this is the limit that your turbo/wastegate will allow - and maybe an unkown), and the gain.  Set the gain low to start, as this just reflects the time it takes to spool up.  You can tweek that later.  Use the displayed boost pressure in psi to work out what % to set the boost to, and once this is set, adjust the gain up.  If you start getting boost spikes then the gain is up to high.

Once it\'s all set, you can adjust the limiter and warning values to some safe numbers that wont kill your engine.

BTW - I haven\'t done this yet, but this is the advice I have had from at least 3 or 4 sources who have used/are using this device.

PS - Forgot to add - make sure the settings start low !!!

ok i have one. I will make it nice and simple for ya. when you have [Lo] displayed in the LCD screen then you can start to adjust the duty cycle to increase or decrease boost, you do this simply by twisting the right hand knob, so say you want to increase boost, you simply twist the right hand knob clockwise , your display will now flash with a percentage value which may be for example 25% when u twist it will increase a percentage point with each right hand click so say when you reach 28% and you are happy with that value "push" the right hand knob and this will set the new value to 28%. Then boost it and you can check if you have reaced the desired boost vlaue if you need more simply twist and push for an increased value. Each turbo config\\wastegate is different so there is no hard or fast values in regards to percentage values. So my advice is start low then slowly increase untill you have reache dthe desired boost value

Just need to stop the oil leak from the oil drain on the turbo now! Every time the waste gate opens, i look like James Bond with his smoke Cloud generator! (The oils dripping onto the waste gate & pipe!)

I was always told to leave the set gain well alone. All you need to do is turn the knob to adjust the boost level.

Leave set gain alone? Ok, will reset it then :)

BlitzBoy

yes if the gain is set to high you will get a boost spike

What PSI is your waste gate spring set at? A boost controller can only control boost at a setting above that.

nikp

Yeah, i know that - so it\'s the minimum spring i have got: 7psi

Right for a stock twin :

Right, I\'d go for about 0.8 till pip sees the car, don\'t go too crazy until you know that it can fuel what you want.

My current settings are :

LOW (about 0.65bar)
Set - 10%
Gain - 13%
Set gain - 0.55
Warning - 0.80
Lower - 10%
Peak - ON

HI (About 0.98bar)
Set - 39%
Gain - 22%
set gain - 0.76
Hi - 1.15
Lower - 15%
Peak - ON

Start with the low setting on both and then find a nice straight road with a roundabout both ends, get the car in 3rd and do a Power run from about 3k to 7.5k watching the boost (or get a passenger along) rise. It should be stable and shouldn\'t spike at the beginning. If it does spike the set gain may be set too high.

Do it in very small jumps and then find what you want.

Don\'t overdo it, keep a very close eye on injector dutys on your pfc too and don\'t go over 85% anywahere in the rev range, more likely to be in the higher rpm points.

PLEASE DON\'T GO TOO FAR AND POP YOUR ENGINE DUE TO TOO MUCH BOOST. THIS IS ONLY A GUIDE AND MAY BE DIFFERENT FOR EACH CAR.

Hope it helps and you will have fun finding the settings

Been having good results with it of late, but have noticed an issue with it that some of you may be able to explain and/or help with.

We tuned it to run 0.85 bar at low setting, which it seems to be hitting well in second and third  (I don\'t use full boost in first at the moment!). But in 4th gear it doesn\'t seem to be hitting full boost: it seems to top out at 0.65 bar.

Any thoughts? (I only have a 0.5 bar wastegate spring at the moment, which will be swapped for a 10psi spring at the weekend)

1st gear at WOT lasts a couple of seconds even on a twin turbo (all be it at 0.95bar). Are you still with the stock twins ??? Seems abit odd. What are you settings at ?
