Yesterday i took the car home from the garage. When i started it up there was a lot of white smoke and the revs were about 900rpm when normally they are around 1500 when cold, the smoke went went after about 30secs of driving and it semed fine. I continued for about 15mins  in heavy traffic and then the traffic eased up and i went to around 20% throttle and probably just touched positive boost, then changed gear, the car stumbled and spluttered really bad and sounded like the ignition cut out, then i heard one rotor start back up, then the second about a second later and it chucked out loads of white smoke again. (white is water right??)

i drove it back home off boost and it drove like it normally does, as responsive as normal off boost and i had no more trouble. Does anyone know why this happens. WHen it went on boost it didnt seem to have a problem but only when the next gear was engaged and i reapplied the accelerator. I am going to disconnect the WI 12V supply today as its not really neaded in this cold weather. this is the only thing i could think it could be as the car has been inside for the last 3 days so i dont think there should be any water in the system but what do you guys think?

What did you have done at the garage, did you question them about the tickover? sounds like the dreaded tps sensor to me, might be worth checking you plug leads are on as well. White smoke is water vapour and this time of the year its not unusual considering the weather conditions, best advise is speek to your garage.

the garage just did the bushes, but i was fiddling in the engine bay while it was there cos i had a fuel leak over by the throttle body.

The thing is that the throttle posistion values on the AVCR all look ok

How is the WI triggered - is it with the supplied boost pressure switch, or have you rigged it some other way ?

its the normal way, pressure switch but thats not on until 0.6bar. The power cable fell out and there was too places to put it back in, NO and NC. Im guessing this is normally open and normally closed so i put it back in the NC position.

Prof

Richard, that may be your problem.

NC - Normally Closed - means the circuit is made until the switch is triggered.

NO - Normally Open - means the circuit is made when the switch is triggered.

You only want the pump on when you have boost, otherwise the water could swamp the engine.  Good job you disconnected it !:2eek :2eek
