Your thoughts on this!

Something to talk about!!!!!!:Talking1

Brain teaser for the day!

Everyone over her is saying I should sell the REX 3 rotor. Well, I don’t want to!
But just thoughts keep creeping into my head about the logic of what people are saying.

Well, here are the points to consider:

The plus bits and why I don’t want to sell the thing: I love the car, best looking car, I have ever had and will never get another one like. I have spent a bloody fortune on it. Not driven it very much at all specially since the conversion, which is still not quite complete. So it’s full potential is yet to be experienced by the person who coughed the pennies up (ME). Other than these aspects, like 99.99999% of REX owners it’s an emotional thing. If we operated on just pure financial logic we would all be on push bikes be it a REX 7 push bike, but still a push bike.

Anyway: the bits which keep pricking my mind are these facts: I now live in a Country with not too good roads, not all, but some have pot holes to surprise the best 4X4’s, The drivers out here are complete nutters/ car mad, but can’t drive to save their lives, must overtake on beds and blind hills, I recon it’s part of their highway code and driving test. They all have the death wise syndrome. Well most do anyway! Their idea of a custom performance car is a big tail pipe some sticky flames down the side, and have a calibrea, or VW Golf GTI about 6 years old with big wheels.

I cannot ever get this thing fixed out here, so it would have to go all the back to Pip’s 2000 miles away. In reality, it would probably do around 1000 miles a year and couple of shows, the rest of the time it will site around and be polished into dust.

Again then the up side is they have never seen anything like this over here. It will be a crowed puller, stop traffic, they are used to Trabants, Some Russian crap, worst car in the World honest! Top out about 50MPH They even sell 100 octane fuel over here (why I don’t know but they do) As I no longer earn money as such, only interest on investments,  it will also make things difficult from that side of things.

SO logic would say, sell it stick the money in the bank, and some more interest. Emotion says no way! That isn’t happening. My choice I know. But I thought I would get some thoughts from other’s as well as my own!!!!     :xconfused  :wiggle

If you live in Norfolk now give me a shout, wouldnt mind having a look at this !!

Sorry not much help I know.

Is it costly to run ? Can you put it on a very low mileage insurance policy ?

How much would you sell it for ? Would you get a lot of your money back ?

It cost about £70.00 a year ti insure out here!
probably not get anything like my money back. As the engine conversion alone was over 30K. Anyway, don\'t wanna sell it really! :wiggle

Like all projects you end up questioning your logic [why the hell am I doing this], if you can answer yourself as to why you are doing it and it is not detremental to you or your loved ones then the answer is yes keep it and see it through to its completion and actualy enjoy the fruits of your labour [wallet!]. You can always put up obsticals to stop you owning it and at the end of the day mechanics are mechanics all over the world [they might not have the technical expertise of Pip {read UK tuners} but they would be able to service ect. A little story for you- a few years ago we did a trip over to the Ring and Spa there were about 8 FD\'s and some MR2\'s in the party, one of the FD\'s was incorperating a tour of Europe including some of the old eastern block countrys, he managed to break his car in the CZ republic and would you believe he got it fixed and completed his tour and he met a fellow FD owner who lived in Prague!
My short answer is keep the dam thing and ENJOY:Thumbs-up

:Talking1 I like that: I have big sympathy for everything your saying. I won\'t sell, it\'s more thoughts than actions if you know what I mean. :eek

I can understand the dilemma, I have gone through the same thoughts in my head many times during my ownership of mine and every time I decide to keep it. I have never worked out how much I have spent on mine (probably a lot less than you) but if I did I reckon if I\'d put that money into paying my mortgage it would be nearly paid off now.
Whats the point in spending all that money just to sell it for peanuts and let someone else get the full enjoyment. Keep the car, remember Pip is always at the end of the phone if you have problems with it, after all the time and effort he put into the car he will always do what he can to keep it running.

One big thing to consider is the amount you have spent on the 20b shall never been returned, if you sold it then you  wouln\'t get the £35000 you have spent.

I would at least keep it for a year and enjoy the car you have built, get it to as many hows as possible so when it comes to selling time everyone knows what the big deal about this car is !!!! :Thumbsup!

i agree with gurj, dont even think about this sinario until you have actually been over here and driven it a bit.  i bet your only memories of her are the pics you have seen.  you need to give her a good blat up the road, and then question it..............

You know it makes sense but at the same time if you need the money then a car is no big deal.

To me it just seems such a shame you are thinking to sell when you haven\'t even used it yet ??? :(

yer, i think it is also a bit of a shame that it has evolved into a complete show car and will now only really be trailered.  it would be nice if it was still just a road car, a very fast, expensive one.  but not just an out and out show car.
