Got into abit of a sticky situation over the weekend.

Basically my manifold exhuast gaskets are blowing so ive ordered some new ones. Saturday just gone tried fitting them, removed the four nuts that hold the manifold in place, but could not get the manifold far enough to clear the bolts to remove the gasket. Found that the turbo (HKS TO4R single turbo) was hitting the body of the car. So in able to get the manifold clearly off the bolts, im gonna need to removed the turbo.

Just under the heat shield of the turbo i can see four bolts that secure the turbo, but i dont want to disturb anything unnessesary causing other gaskets to wear.

Putting it all back together thinking im gonna have to get some more info for removing this turbo, the manifold blow is now worse (now with slight blue smoke visable)

So once you\'ve taken the time to read this, any input is much grateful and if anyone wants to help im in Chatham.

Thanks

pity you live sooooooooo far away - me and shaunwil have experience in removing a single turbo and refitting it

we had the same probs to be honest - so ..

1 - you might have to remove the turbo from the manifold
2 - failing this - if you remove the front cover from the turbo - will this allow you to get it out

I know, im hoping to find someone who lives abit nearer.

like i said before if i remove the turbo from the manifold i may upset the gasket there.

Also when u say remove \'front cover\' could you find a pic or something so i could see which part you mean.

Thanks Stu

good luck with it - we had lots of fun helping a mate of ours with it

esp when we ended up doing it by torch light :D

then we had to take it off again as we forgot to slide the down pipe into place and couldnt fit it in

hours of fun :D

from what i can remember most of it comes off with a 14mm spanner :D

the manifold to turbo gasget should be easy to get hold of,  its normally either a T3 or a T4, all the Turbo companies sell them, the stainless ribbed ones are only a couple of quid, so its no hardship if you have to take the turbo off the manifold.

Just be careful if you remove the compressor housing that you dont damage the compressor wheel.

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!
