Hi guys

I\'d like your advice if you have a second..

I\'m looking into selling my car soon. She\'s running perfectly at the minute but she\'s on 97.000K. Questions...

Do you think it would be in my best interest to get a rebuild first?

I\'m thinking more people would be interested if it was done.

Any recomendations on where to go?

Any idea on how much I\'m looking at?

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Rach :)

erm with the current market it is hard to tell, and as you would probably be looking at quite a high price considering how special your car is, it\'s really tough to determine what a good price is. you might find you would not recoup the extra cost of rebuilding it from the sale price, so if you offered it at £8000 as it is you couldnt expect to get £11000 rebuilt, assuming it cost £3000 to rebuild. (completely made up figures by the way)

I would think up the price you want, see if there are any takers, also look at the cost of a rebuild and add that on top of your asking price and see what else is selling in that price bracket.
If you do decide a rebuild is the way to go, you cant really go wrong with any of the tuners in the banner up top, or RX motors. :)

Pip at WGT has just done mine , he aint that cheap but he is bloody good , it\'ll certainly be cheaper if nothing has blown , taking the engine out ourself would probably save a pretty penny too

You could get a compression test done that will give a better idea of whats going on inside the engine , best bet would be to phone a couple of the specialists and have a chat

Got to say i\'m with Tintin on this one, go and get a compression test done and then make the decision:yes

Aint no point chucking 2.5-3K at a car thats spot on!  At least you guys have quite a few specialists down your end of the country! If it turns out to be good results you can give this to potential buyers.  It aint a 100% guarantee, but it\'ll help.

Liked the feature in Redline BTW, shame your selling her, but im sure the next one will be top notch too:Thumbs-up

As the two above me have said get the compression test done first to see how worn the engine is, you might find its got high compression saves you spending money on the rebuild and adds to the selling advert when you have compression figures to show.

MMMMM I have to Disagree with Tintin, unfortunatly in the Rebuild game the cost can be wacked up just as much with wear as damage.

You would expect a decent Rebuild to Include 2 new Housings, the only thing you would save over a Blown motor is the £300 for a new Rotor, You may still need a plate resurfaceing and Apex\'s,Gaskets and Labour.

So i\'d say Get it Compresion tested by a Big name, Get a full Print out of the Condition, talk to the people in the Know what they think of the Condition then take it from there. I would\'nt just rebuild it becouse you may sell it quicker the way things are at the Mo you may not.

QuoteThats sort of what I ment , should have been more clear

When mine was done the rear rotor had a new housing and rotor due to blowing a tip but the front still needed a new housing because SOMEONE had been thrashing the life out of it ( for legal reasons it wasn\'t me ;) )

yeh i know what you mean, i\'ve just done a rebuld for some one and it needed two rotors and Plates skim etc(1k of Bits and bobs) on top of the Housings etc, the guy in question thought i was trying to Rip him off becouse the engine ran but had lowish Comp.
