So, you just bought a Rex... a fresh Jap import.

Good mileage, but little history...

What do you do mapping / tuning wise to ensure many years of happy motoring :)

You gotta get it running on UK fuel first right.
Perhaps get it mapped to a conservative boost setup.

anything esle...?

To get it mapped you need an after market ECU most common here is the Apexi, a fresh stock jap import will be fine on 98 / 99 ron with the standard ecu, if you are looking to mod it you will need the Apexi 1st.

With your mods you WILL need to get it mapped for UK fuel, so you\'l need a stand alone fuel management system first. Also id keep boost stock because with its power atm its more than enough for winter and i would have thought would be happy with it as is :)

To be honest first thing to do is get rid of the jap tyres on it otherwise you may not have many months of motoring as soon as it starts getting wet!

change all the tired fluids for new stuff. Fuel filter should be changed too.

I would sugest a Compression test, Good Service (Diff, gearbox and Engine Oil,Fuel (Possably) air filters, Plugs and Leads) and a set of good UK tyres.

I also had the Injectors Cleaned when i got mine (may be worth looking into)

I would\'nt open it up until you get a Map done though.

It\'s already got an after market ECU so that\'s ok.... (not sure of make/model)
It\'s off to Pip at WGT on Wednesday for a proper tuning... gonna turn it down to about 0.8bar (is at ~0.95bar now) so I can get used to it over the winter).

The Jap tyres are being changed for something a little less mental... they were wide tyres but had a very narrow effective tread area... really curved edges.... and had really low tread depth (not cos they were worn either, they were just quite \'slick\')... would be sooo easy to curb too.

Mihgt stick a boost controller on it later too, so I can switch maps...:bandit

Be careful with that aftermarket ECU; the advise above was to make sure you have an ECU set up appropriate for your engine mods; the ECU you have may only be suitable for 100RON fuel :(

RedRummy

That\'s a good point...

Given that it was modded in Japan (as far as I know)... it could well be... :(

Its in with WGT toorrow, hopefully they\'ll see me alright...

(ahem - bloody better do at £400+ for a mapping session...  only joking :)

RedRummy

... it may well be an Apexi though.

Hope so.
