elloha,

I am wanting to upgrade my headlights as I can barely see anything at night unless I use full beams. I dont want to just upgrade to some "bright" bulbs if I can help it, so does anyone know of and HID conversions for standard popups?

Thanks.:Thumbs-up

Try here,

I\'d call first and see if they are sure they\'ll fit.....

I\'m thinking of getting a set of these myself over the winter.

Just bought two sets from HIDWorld on ebay. I can\'t recommend them, you pay for what you get.

However, they are bright, so an HID conversion will be ample lighting to drive by. Put it this way, I now drive using only the fogs (HID). Only out in the countryside do you need the pop-ups (HID)

Cally

what ones did you buy and how much were they? Also how difficult were they to fit?

Emailed hids4u and they say they should fit an FD no problem. What I like about them is they actually recommend the lower K lights as they\'re actually brighter, this is the way it should be....higher K means dimmer lights.

I\'m also hoping to get the crystal lenses for the popups which should make a difference as well.

Cally

Keep me updated mate if you get crystal clear and how much the kit is. There is a company fairly local to me doing mr2 kits so I am going to try pop down and see if they can do them for an rx7, I\'ll let you know!!

OK cheers. Won\'t get them till next year because I have a lot of engine bits and a rebuild to do first. The proper Japanese crystal kit is around £200 from newera. They do some on ebay cheaper from the US but I think those are specifically for LHD cars tho not sure.

Right, [have already posted about this on fd:uk so forgive me if I skip anything] I bought an H4 hi/lo (single xenon) kit and an H3 kit. The H4 hi lo kit has a xenon low beam and halogen high beam. Like all kits it is made up of a bulb, ballast/starter unit and leads. The power lead plugs into where the stock bulb fits and powers the ballast and the xenon bulb is wired to the ballast directly. The kit I bought proported to be plug and play but in actual fact it isn\'t. The wiring for the xenon part of the bulb is complete but the wiring for the halogen is inexplicably missing. They simply leave you with short wire tails on the power connector and on the bulb and expect you to get some normal wire and connectors to finish the job. Anyway, they didn\'t take long to fit and I haven\'t bothered with the high beam yet (but you need it for the MOT). The result is great, apart from the quality issues and the occasional non-starting (the kit starts fine when you have 14V feeding it but on battery power <13V it struggles to start).

The H3 kit on the other hand...the kit was fully wired, the problem is that the FD fogs are sealed units (as they sit in a very wet location!). So I had to adapt the units by drilling an inch diameter hole in the back of the housing to accomodate the grommet for the new wiring. The funny thing is that now the power goes in to the light unit on the stock wiring and then comes out again on the HID kit wiring only to go back in again on the high tension lines for the xenon bulb. But this avoided cutting into the stock wiring so I could still revert to the stock bulbs (and now it\'s done I won\'t see it again!)

The fogs are much better lights than the headlights as they are more like a projector unit than a reflector unit. I have wound the fogs up to cover a greater distance ahead of the car and now use them instead of headlights where there is street lighting. The main headlights have been adjusted down massively to avoid blinding people and they work a treat on country roads.

All in all, the H4 kit took about an hour to fit. The H3 kit took more like four.

Have you got any pics of these mate ? With the lights on would also be good.

Found this company if it\'s any help....

I have just won a RE Amemiya set of front headlights on Japan e-bay, I am going to try and fit the H4 HID kit to them but change the plastic lens to clear glass and move the light units forward for better light spread. Will let you know how I get on.
In the meen time I have just put 90/110w bulbs in and they are a lot lot better.
