Ive just come back from the nurburgring; my friends in their skylines and cossies were ripping me saying my car would break down. i am the ONLY person who had no problems at all.

on the track i overtook M3 after m3, porsche 968\'s, 911 turbos, ferraris (both on the twisties, granted alot of the ferraris werent balls out) and even kept up with a caged 911 GT RS on slicks for an entire lap - the driver was wearing a flame suit and a helmet.

The FD is NOT a straight line cruiser. That is EXACTLY what makes it one of the best jap cars, its handling. your mates are winding you up or just plain ignorant.

p.s, i have a video of me overtaking an M3 CSL, a scooby, an M3 and an evo on the ring too.

was at knockhill with my old rx and i aint no race car driver kept up with a wrc escort preped for the track and hillclimbs had it on the straights as well give me a small bmw any day and i will show him the way.

Well a picture says a thousand words doesn\'t it.

Mazda\'s racing heritage allows their road cars inherit much of what Mazda learn on the circuit (Le Mans, Daytona, etc). Rx7\'s will always go around corners VERY FAST.
It just so happens they go fast in a straight line as well. :cool

You\'ve got nothing to worry about on the track mate.
:cheers

OOOO now that\'s going on my Desktop :)

Well I am very glad to find another Yokohama fan on here. (I have tried to sing their praises before , only to be told "Jap rubber is cr4p" !!)

Yes, I would love to see this video as well, please.

My 9:15 at the Ring was ok but before I timed the recording I thought it was a slow 9:45.  I\'d only had my Rex 3 months at the time and it\'s got extremely hard tyres and is completely standard.

With more confidence and better tyres I seriously think I could get close to sub 8:30\'s, and that\'s in a standard car.

There is no point in comparing front and rear wheel drive cars, they are completely different.  Everyone is going to say their car is better than yours, only you really know how good your car is.  Over 250 bhp in a front wheel drive car and you\'re in trouble.

DC2 - I love Hondas, my last car was a Civic EG9. Front engine, front wheel drive, not worth comparing for driving experience.  Rather than using a LSD to corner under power in a Rex you use the right pedal and either your left or right butt cheek :)

S2000 - Probably pretty much even par with a standard rex but it doesn\'t look as good and doesn\'t have 90% of max torque at around 2900rpm does it? or the tuning capabilities I reckon.

Mini, sorry BMW - No comment.

The RX-7 is an unbelieveable car, power, handling, looks, it has it all.

If you know someone with a PS2 and GT4, drive these cars (standard) on there and you will learn a lot.

I think I\'m going to go for a drive right now, that\'s what a Rex does to you!

PS - I love Yokohamas too, you can actually see them wearing down they\'re so soft but on smooth roads in the dry - WOW!
