Just back from RoTechniks after dropping of my FC convertible there for some work.

Got chatting to them as you do and mentioned that I was soon going to be in the market for a reasonably quiet, comfy cross-country missile. One thing led to another and I suddenly find myself piloting an FD that just happened to be for sale.

Want

So it looks like the plans to buy a nice sensible four seater saloon like an older BMW M5 just went out the window and I\'m now trying to make up my mind if I bite the bullet and get myself the car I drove (although the money was earmarked "survival" for my first couple of months\' worth of contracting) or do I pay them a deposit on another car which needs an engine rebuild anyway and can be tweaked a little to my spec?

I guess it\'ll be the latter given that that particular car is my preferred colour (black) and it\'d have most of the bits on it that I\'d want anyway. The other car is probably nicer overall (the paint job on the black one isn\'t that great, but pretty OK) but, well, it would need the same tweaks and the other car\'s already in bits...

Why oh why did I start that conversation? And how to I explain two rotaries to the better half?

I know I want to. God, I\'d have two and a Cosmo if I could but I\'m trying to be sensible here.

"Rotary nutter"-type sensible by the looks of it.

What\'s a head? :-)

I wasn\'t going to use all the money anyway, the point here is that it\'s there so I can tide me over until the money from the IT contracting I\'ll start in a few weeks rolls in. I should have that back well before Chrimbo...

Getting them to build me the car to my timescale would mean that the money\'s sitting back in where it came from (my savings account) when I get it back...

Prof

Truthfully, nobody can help you with these kinds of decisions. You want justification for doing it, but only you know your circumstances well enough to make the final judgement. Its a kind of fusion between head and heart. Damn difficult...Depends on how much will power you have.....:guinness
FD or not FD? that is the question.

elford_tim

Oh, I wasn\'t looking for someone to help with the justification. Should\'ve made that clearer :Laugh. I\'ve given up on trying to "justify" toy expenditure as long as I can afford it; it\'s just a slightly awkward timing at the moment...

Prof, yeah, I\'m kinda making plans but it looks like I\'ll forgo the joy of a Cosmo. I\'ve had most of the Japanese big coupes and the last two on the list would be a Cosmo and a Soarer but given a choice between one of those two or an FD, I\'d think I\'d have the FD now.

Just give in , its pointless to fight it !

antnicuk

400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

Quote from: antnicuki\'d buy the M5

LOL i think i would too...

Grizzly

FD\'s are the WAY!!!!

If your a weekend Warior Buy an FD

If you use it every day Keep the FC

But i had an FC vert and moved over the the FD world and i don\'t regret it for a second (i realy don\'t miss the Water leaks).

FD\'s are the Ultimate Weeks end toy. But i would\'nt run one as an Every day car (i aint got the Cash)

shaunwil

Yep i gave grinder a couple sleepless nights of wanting after i took him out in my fd :p
