I\'ve gone and done it....yes I have....just submitted an offer on a 92 Gen 3 type SIR (what the ISR is I don\'t know \'cos I thought SIRs were on things like Hondas?? ANy clues? Maybe it\'s a type and should be type R??) with 74000km (46000miles) on the clock, auction grade 3.5 due to very small scuff on left rear (just behind fuel filler), and peeling lacquer on one 1/4 panel. It\'s got an after market big tailpipe muffler but apart from that I believe it\'s standard.
Anyway, I thought I was pushing my luck with theoffer I made but it got accepted so deposit already sent off. I\'m happy with the guys I\'m dealing with and have used them importing vehicles already. It\'s already in the UK. Only downside I see at the moment is the colour - nice dk grn metallic - but for £4200 I can\'t complain and it\'s nothing that a respray wouldn\'t cure I guess - and I might even be able to afford the 60000 miles rebuild that\'ll be due in 10 years time provided I only do 1400 miles per year :D

Actually I think the colour is that motego mica blue......

J4P RX

Montego Blue looks great.  It changes lots from a nice green to a dark blue.  I would post a photo, but you cant do it justice as none capture the colour.

Trouble is, if your paint needs work I expect trying to replace such a colour will be expensive.

Right, here\'s a pics. Def looks more blue than green. I\'m not too worried about the paint as I happen to have a mate who is a bodywork specialist and has access to an oven!

J4P RX

Thats Montego Blue.  Once you get it in some natural sun it will look green though - trust me!

I still never know if I should describe my car as blue or green to people.  If I say blue its inevitable they saw it when it was green...

You have the Mazda sideskirts too which is nice.

Very nice pete:cool  I\'m very jealous at this moment in time:( ;)

When do you pick her up????

Enjoy!, Paul:D

petemillis

Picking her up in 3 weeks time - I inadvertantly said she was already here (that\'s another motor I\'ve just bought). Nice thing is that in 3 weeks time it\'s my 37th birthday as well!

And for those interested, here\'s a picture of her bum.

Very nice bet u cant wait.  I hope u r going to take the spoiler off and paint it yellow! :rollin

Only joking, look forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Cheers Gman - too right I can\'t wait. The only problem is that it was my wife\'s birthday at the weekend and I had promised her something nice. I think she has got the wrong end of the stick - her present was the new pair of trainers that turned up this morning but she seems to have been expecting something bigger and with 4 wheels  Spose that means I\'ll have to put a second driver on the insurance - at least she\'s as old as me and with the same good driving history.
Also I may get out of the weekly Tescos shopping - there won\'t be enough room for the food for all of us (me, wife, 4 kids) let alone me as a passenger!
Finally, is dropping the rear spolier the way to go? The reason I ask is that I also placed an offer on a nice red one with no rear spolier but thought it looked like something was missing. Looked pretty sleek though. The thing that put of the red is that fading to pink/orange thing. This happened to the wing mirros and spolier on our previous high perfomance Japanese motor - a 93 Nissan Micra 1.3 SR. I\'m guessing the performance will be similar to that.......

No spoiler is my prefered option, u either love it or hate it so you will have to see a few to get an opinion.  I agree from one angle (the one in my avitar) it does look a bit naked but from everywhere else it looks smooth and sleek.  I have no rear wiper so smooth lines at the back of the car is a bit of a feature.

petemillis

Here\'s a nice botty for you then Gman :rollin
It\'s on the same boat as the motor I\'m picking up and I\'ve been asked if I want to make an offer on that as well. I almost did, but like I say the red put me off (the condition notes point out minor fading on the tailgate and left rear 1/4 panel). Also the mileage is higher than I wanted (121700 km  or 76000 miles) so unless a rebuild had been done then one would be due by all accounts. It\'s a shame though as the interior is grade 4, the exterior is 3.5 due to the paint fade. It\'s a 1994 one and I wish I hadn\'t looked at it again as I\'m now thinking about putting an offer on it.....I can\'t, can I, mmmmm we\'ll see......it could solve the wife\'s birthday pressie dilemna - HIS and HERS RX-7s......

Very nice but as u said the millage is quite high so i would stick to your first choice.  Removing a spoiler properly is about £2000 cheaper (minimum) than an engine rebuild!
