I wonder if some one could help me on this one. I\'ve just put a new head unit in the rex (FD) and the ariel won\'t come up. I know that it is connected as i can hear the motor going when the unit turns on but it doesn\'t move any ideas?

Thanks

Adam

Mines the same but has been for a couple of years. I\'ve been told that there is a plastic cog thats not engaging. This does seem to be a coincidence with you as it has only started after you changed the head unit.

I\'ve tried to get to the ariel a couple of times but given up, it looks like quite a mission to get down inside.

John
I started with nothing and I have most of it left

If you can wait a few days you can have mine for a tenner + P&P. I disconnected mine as I never use it and it was working before I disconnected it :)

LeedsLad

mines never worked i bought the car with out a head unit. PM me when you take it out i may take you up on that:evillaugh

probedb

No problem :) I\'ll take it out on Sunday and drop you a PM.

LeedsLad

I might not need it i took mine out and opened it up. don\'t know what was wrong but a re lubed and checked every thing and now  its working sort of the ariel will o up and down but on going down it makes a rtchet clicking noise like its still pulling. I might have set it up wrong ill have another go before sunday see how it goes.

How come your removing yours?

Mobilemick

My Ariel does that cicking sound as well,  Will get around to taking it out,   Just got the RX so not sure if it worked before,

I never listen to the radio, plus I\'ll get one of those interior aerials that I used to have on my old car. It just annoys me having the aerial there. It\'s already disconnected to stop it going up and down when the stereo is on :)

LeedsLad

i\'ll do a write up if any ones interested.

Mobilemick

Yeah mines got one of them sticky ariels at the side of the windscreen,

whislt i`m waiting for me V5 i can take it to pieces :

sorted it out it turned out to be the plastic coil that moves the ariel was broken away. I think a bit must of snapped off in the ariel itself as i couldn\'t get it to fix.....so i heated it up over the cooker and jamed it in, it fused in and all is well. I then took it back out heated it again and reshaped the end so that is bonded to about the 3rd section from the full extention so it extends to half hight. Personaly i think it looks much better and it doesn\'t make a ratchet noise now!:Hammer

Probedb - how do you disconnect it to stop it going up & down?

I caught mine on the garage door & it\'s bent, so doesn\'t work very well. Would be much better to be down all the time.

Thanks

unplug it,   either the feed wire from the stereo (fink its blue)  or at the ariel itself

LeedsLad

tailz if you remove the jack, handle and chock you can see a blue plug into a white socket. Theres a little clip on the side push that in and pull it off. Job done

Nice one - cheers both
