Chaps,

After watching DIY-RE13B dvd and seeing how simplistic it was for them to build their engine I decided that I would research the subject further.

I understand you can get hold of 2mm, 3mm apex seals, with 1 or two springs, would 3mm speals with two springs give me the best overall longevity for higher power applications?

What needs to be done to the rotor housings/rotors to accept the 3mm seals?  The slots in the rotors would need to be machined an extra 1mm wide, and I guess the corner seals would be different? Do the springs differ for 3mm/2mm applications?

Do we get different standard of seals, i.e stock 2mm and higher performance 2mm? maybe made out of a different material?  Do the springs vary in quality?

Basically, my questions boils down to, if I wanted to build the strongest 13b engine at high power levels, do uprated internal components exist for this task, and if they do, where do I get them from?

Cheers, James

Thanks for the link - I notice the 2mm and 3mm are the same price, this would indicate to me that the 3mm seals would not be considered superior to 2mm seals in all charecteristics?  Maybe they have different applications?

What about corner seals and springs, would I need 3mm corner seals with these kits?

There is lots of people that will tell you 3mm\'s are stronger than 2mm apex\'s.

BUT!! i have not seen any proof to back this up but i have seen the proof that 2mm\'s Seal better and are lighter so the effects of higher RPM are reduced.

Apex reliability is down to who sets it up + how safely its set up, then if you search you\'ll find there are people out there running massive power on stock Mazda 2pc 2mm\'s.

I personaly have a set of Atkins Cryo Apex\'s in mine becouse i was recomended them by some one who is a respected Drag Engine builder in the US. But i have used Mazda seals in a few builds that are going strong.

Just make sure your Apex Grooves are spot on and use as Much OE stuff like Gaskets as you can afford.
