I have picked up one of these I think. It does not have RE A badge on it but the JASMA one although I can find a mark where there was a badge once.

Looking down the end pipe which is 2n3/4 inch I can see at least 2 perforated plates across the diameter of the tube so must be restricting it down to about 1n1/2 inches! Is this all that is needed for a free flowing exhaust?

Is the down pipe (non precat) this restrictive, therefore it makes no difference how big the exhaust is until you change the downpipe?

can anyone with a Dolphin have a look down their pipe?:Thumbs-up

Oh - when I shake the exhaust there is loads of \'rubbl\' rolling around inside the silencer. I assume this was once sound packing which has collapsed or something.

Jit

the downpipe is seriously restrictive! Ill take a photo of the stock one....i cant get my skinny fingers through the restiction!!!

The rubble rolling around in the exhaust sounds like collapsed baffles.....itll probably begin to sound really bad...if youve picked it up recently, i sugeest you take it back mate....its pretty much dead if thats happeneing!

No wonder aftermarket downpipes are so popular! Hmmm...might have to start that search for a nur spec bung again!

Jit

have you fitted it yet? How bad is the noise wen fitted if you have? A bung might just make it sound worse :( .....chavs in their corsa will probably laugh your exhaust note. :(  I remeber when the baffles when on my integras exhaust.....actaully would have sounded better with no exhaust...in fact...thats probably the closest thing to what it will sound llike if you havent put it on yet!

The dolphin is not on yet. i have a blitz on which is just too loud. Sometimes I love it but \'playing\' with the car when out and about creates too much attention not to mention annoyed neighbours!

Jit

in whichcase, that dolpih will probably attract more...if not immediately, then very soon after...where did you get it from for it to be in that state of affairs? I had a blitz which I liked but i much prefer the sound of the rotary enigne..no the exhaust hence  why i went back to standard!

It was off another member here. The outside pipe has been welded back on as it had cracked. i knew about this but didnt know its been welded back on by a drunk 6 year old! The welding is very untidy and the pipes wonky - I can see it going in the skip!

I have had a Dolphin on my car now replaced by titanium exhaust, look like common fault (outside pipes cracked) mine the same.
