Im quite new here and still getting my head round the fd3.  I just got the car back from having the wiring sorted (3 alarms and 2 trackers and a number of bodged steros = hundreds of meters of excess wiring and most of it left live and not insulated)

The car is runnig well relatively standard just a s/steel 3\'\' exhaust and apexi induction.  What i have noticed though is that under boost the first turbo seems to boost to about .6 psi. When the second turbo comes in it start at .6 then shoots up to about 1.5 then comes strait back to about .7.

This only apears to happen in third gear and a little in second.

the car hasent been thrashed in my posesion been very carful and trying to make sure that its all spot on before I take it out properly.  Did a 350 mile run back wih it and it dident miss a beat but was not boosted over .5 bar.

The engine was rebuilt last year by dragon so im hoping that that it has got plenty of life left in it.

should the car have  higher boost just as the second turbo comes in of is this a problem?

how is the boost set in standrd form ( no boost controller on there at mo)

The car does seem to be over fueling at present (quite happy to leave untill the power fc arrive so I can see what is going on.

Im asuming that the turbo is boosting to high Im thinking that this is a vac problem or some mupet has trying to fiddle with turning up the boost in the past.

being dropped into gargae to be looked at over the next week but would like to go in there with a better understanding of the standard set up of the turbos and how they usualy run.

any thourghts welcomed

It shouldn\'t boost to 1.5bar - no way! You\'re gonna get knock if you\'re not careful, and blow your engine up.

I did read somewhere on how to change the boost patern on transistion, but can\'t remember where i read it!

best i dont boost it again then. Asumed that this was not right.  Am getting worried about this now as this may have been like this with the previous owner for 6 months on the new engine!

if you do remember where you read it let me know

The chances of it blowing from detonation aren\'t a gradual thing: it\'ll either blow or it won\'t. So - it\'s hasn\'t blown - you\'re ok. Just don\'t keep boosting it like that until it\'s sorted.

i would personally check your boost guage, are you on the standard ecu??  if so you would get fuel cut, which feels a bit like hitting a wall, but without the wall????? hmmm.

yer standard ecu, fc on the way, when the throttle is planted down and the boost creeps up the car feels like it gets completely retarded and power graph would be leveling off. if you gently feathe in the boost it pull hard and stays at about .7 bar.

on the last car i had (200sx) when you hit the fuel cut it nearly snapped your neck off.

this just feels like the car isent boosting properly after it spikes as if you could retard the ignition loads!

Just took the car home the second turbo def seems to spike to 1.2-1.3 bar when it first takes over then seems to settle at about .7-.8 bar.!  Also as pulling off the motor way the light on the oil pressure guage came on but went off after a couple of seconds.
I have been keeping an eye on the oil pressure via a different guage and all seems to be fine.  If this light comes on is that indicating that there may be a shortage of oil.
Did check and seems to be above minimum.
