Im back with more questions, since you guys are so helpful! :)

Ok, the boost problems I was having last week seem to have gone away, im just waiting for a dry day to test it all out - Turned out to be the Y-Pipe coupling, changed it to silicon and its ok now.

A few more questions.

After I Had finished work which included rats nest silicon hoses, air pump removal, underdrive pulley and fixing the y-pipe I have the following quesitons

1) My auto-box does not seem to find 4th gear, first time I started it up it felt like it was running in sports mode all the time, revving really high and not changing down when backing of the gas, now it seems to have problems finding 4th gear - eg cruising on the motorway it seems to be a gear too low.

2) The solenoids attached to the UIM the wastage gate, turbo pre control solenoid, how do I test if they are wired up correctly?

3) Heat light flashing, PFC showing "CAT", "HWL", and sometimes "FRP".  Everything else on the PFC seems ok.

My Mods:

PFC mapped running 0.8bar
De-cat,
HKS Filters,
no air pump
Underdrive kit
Silicon hoses
Turbo timer

The Auto box problem sounds like the "HOLD" function is engaged. I take it you don\'t have a hold light on your tacho?

For some stragne reason, when my immobiliser was on the hold system would engage. Just arnming and disarming would fix it.

Interesting symptoms, but I dont think thats the problem :).  The hold function is not engaged because it changes gear as it should, but it does not find the 4th gear when cruising.

Doesn\'t the \'sport\' mode button (if you have one on the rx7 auto) shut out the overdrive?

Wouldn\'t this give you symptoms described?

Just a thought

no clue at all.

Im in D, so im not in sports mode, sports mode is still accessible and functioning.

Its just the gearbox wont change into 4th :)  I had the UIM off to replace the silicon hoses and had the throttle cabling off, could this relate to it?

May be a long shot, but maybe try and reset the ecu if you havent already done it.

Im guessing thats going to loose my map, probably have to get re-worx to save the map first and then restore it if possible :)

Im going there on the 14th, ifv its not sorted by then I will get them to look at it.

Firstly, I hope Reworx can sort out the issues your having with the car.

Hopefully you can clarify some things for me as I haven\'t got a handle on the autobox yet.  I thought you had two functions;

1) The Hold button that allows you to keep the gear selected until you want to change, moving the lever through L(1), S(2), and D(3).

2) The sport/economy button that allows you to remain in Drive but redlines before each change and knocks out the overdrive.

Could you let me know if this is correct?

Once again good luck with getting it sorted and let us know what solved it.

1) Correct, hold holds the gear until you change through 1, 2, 3 and should not change for you even at redline, it should also beep at you

2) Sports mode, which is not a button but the S on the selector stays in drive but changes the gears later at redline and wont hit 4th, so your driving in a lower gear most of the time

Im defintily in D because the selected gears are fine until it needs to use 4th then it just stays in 3rd! :)  Its meaning my motorway cruising is using **** loads more fuel! doh! Ive never had an autobox go on me before so im not sure what im expecting, if 4th is screwed up should it be attempting to get into 4th and obviously failing? It doesnt even seem to attempt 4th, theres no random noises or slipping in and out of gear!

On the cosmo box you have a sport/economy button as well, this must be different on the FD.

Hope you get it sorted soon

Just had a thought - sometimes my car won\'t start until I move the selector a bit - I\'m thinking maybe the switches in the selector assy are loose or something?
I mean, maybe your are in D, but the gearbox thinks you are in S. Maybe try going for a drive and moving the selector slightly forwards or backwards (most prob forwards).

You never know!

Let me know what happens

imebgo

Im in D because changing to usually S changes down a gear, its almost like 4th is totally disabled :)
