Does anyone know what Psi roughly the coolant system runs at operating temp?

Cheers.

The mazda caps are 0.9 bar, wont this determin the pressure?

Grizzly

Yes that would be the max pressure though? Basicly i have made a Pressure tester that bolts up to the front plate, Basicly i want to know what is safe to pressure it up to so i don\'t blow the seals myself. It would just remove any doubt if an engine problem was Water seals or say a Bad pipe or Matrix etc.

I guessed, and pressurised mine to 22psi. Left it for a while, and saw barely any loss in pressure, much to my relief. As Gary says, the cap will determine running pressure.
Odd thing was that my coolant loss turned out to be due to a tiny leak in a pipe down by the turbos, but the pressure test didn\'t help me find it. Maybe it was because I did the pressure test cold.

Ok cheers, I\'m trying to sort a Frends car who is having coolant Issues.

If i Test the Engine seals then the rad then the Matrix and not find a leak i\'ll change all the Pipes.

i would have thought so as any pressure above this would be discharged through the cap bot for testing reasons i would try 1.5 * max pressure to prove all components.  but please remember im a sparky so i may be talking sh1t hop this helps, and good luck for your mate.

Well after thinking about it i\'ve just gone up to .9 bar as Gary pointed out its the Safety presure for the Cap, Plus if it was going to leak it with Air being a gas not a Liquid its more likly to find smaller gaps etc to leak from, So after leaving it an hour and having no noticable drop i\'m happy the Engines good (which removes any doubt if i can\'t find a leak in the Rad or Matrix to spend the money on the Hoses)

I was just Paranoid if i over pressurize the Water system i may blow the Coolant seals myself.

in that case ill swop probs with you, ill chase a chase a coolent prob and you fix my fduked tip. :)

LOL yeh that sounds like a fair swap :)

When I had leak issues before I pressurised it to 0.9 bar and sprayed all the hoses etc with leak detector (soapy water) and looked for the bubbles.
Turned out I had three separate leaks.

Mazda dropped the cap pressure from 1.3 bar down to 0.9 bar to avoid over-pressuring the seals, so I wouldn\'t advise pressurising the system to 1.5 x normal pressure (1.35 bar) - this may just cause problems which weren\'t there previously :(
