99RON unleaded..... :god

QuoteShell UK today launches its latest generation of performance unleaded fuel - Shell V-Power.

Available across the UK, new Shell V-Power builds on the highly successful Shell Optimax premium fuel brand launched in 2001.

The same Shell international scientists who develop the Ferrari Formula 1 racing fuels have created a unique fuel blend that is designed to get more power and responsiveness from your vehicle.

Instrumental to Shell V-Power’s development has been the working relationship forged between Shell and Ferrari over the last 50 years across the Grand Prix circuits of the world.  The Ferrari Formula 1 car provides Shell scientists with a unique cutting-edge mobile laboratory enabling fuels to be developed and tested under the most severe conditions, benefiting from instant feedback and analysis. Findings are fed back into Shell’s road fuel development programmes.

The result: a fuel for customers who understand that not all fuels are the same.

Shell V-Power contains Shell\'s unique Friction Modification Technology (FMT) as used by the Formula 1 Ferrari team in their 2006 racing fuels.  This is designed to help the engine turn more freely and improve performance.
Shell V-Power has an octane rating of 99 RON, designed to provide more power and improved responsiveness in many modern cars.
Shell V-Power contains a powerful cleaning formula designed to improve engine responsiveness by removing power-robbing deposits, helping the fuel to burn more effectively.

John Rasmussen, UK Retail Director said, “This is a proud day for Shell Retail. Shell V-Power allows our customers to fill-up with a performance fuel derived directly from our Formula 1 technical partnership with Ferrari”.

He went on:

“Our relationship with Ferrari helped us introduce the first premium performance fuel to the UK market in 2001. Shell V-Power builds on that proven motor sport heritage, moving the market forward again; delivering hard-fought-for track-proven innovation, such as FMT, to the road and our customers.

Shell V-Power, like no other Shell fuel before it, caters for those customers all across the UK who are looking for a fuel designed to help extract additional responsiveness from their vehicles.

Filled up withit before the driver activity day yesterday. 98p a litre :)

used V-Power few times here in Germany with bad experience. Maybe depend on German fuel but the engine tends to knock more with V-Power as wih regular 98-oktane fuel from other vendors. German V-Power is rated 100 oktane, just for info.

Icesurf3r

Filled up with 99Ron unleaded from my local Tesco last night 95.9p a litre :god :Thumbsup!

Joeh

I\'ll give it a try, I hope it doesn\'t do any increasing in knocking otherwise this stuff will annoy me, I think the main problem is that its designed specifically for piston engines (according to the website, well I only brief read it)

Would be good if shell could actually get someone to respond to email\'s rather than choosing from about 10 pre-typed emails    we would then be able to see what advantages it has for us Rotary\'s

strange_days_uk

Tesco 99 RON is the shizzle !!

Mind you, I just got my 5 gallon drum of racing ethanol for my WI !!

Normal unleaded 95 octane
BP Ultimate 97 octane
Optimax 98 octane

You guys must get much cheaper petrol than us up here, the cheapest optimax I can get is 99.9p and it has been as high as 103.9 in recent weeks

I think Evo did a test on the different fuels available. Came out (depending on whether they got a large bung from Shell) that Optimax was the most consistent performer. Tesco 99RON did well, 2nd placed.

I think it was 93p ish? the garage was cheaper than other places for some reason. Its the Shell in Tonbridge near the a21 junction.

Ricco_04

Optimax is 102.9 here and never seems to come down.  They are going to change to BP in x month\'s time so wont even have the option.  My next Shell is another 10miles away :(

Shell just sent me their brochure & stuff on v-power, and a spanky new v-power pluspoint card that\'s shaped like the Mint credit card :D

I wouldn\'t have thought this fuel will cause us any problems, as most of our cars are imports & Jap fuel is 100 ron. So it should be more suited.

Gotta go & fill up a little later, so will see if they\'ve switched to V-power at 1 of the Shell garages round here.

Hope this works well. Used the german V-Power in the MR2 when we went to the \'ring a couple of years back and that was NICE

recent results tested by auto express on fuel octane levels shows some interesting results.
Cars were drained then drove 60 miles to allow the ecu\'s to take oct level into account (well on the vxr anyway the polo does not check for oct so does not adjust the ecu)

Two car have been tested on the same rolling road which has an accuracy of + or -1 BHP
Vauxhall Astra VXR
Regular 95 ron 213.5bhp,
BP ultimate 97 ron 209.7bhp,
Shell optimax 98 ron 222.2bhp,
Tesco 99 ron 221.3bhp

VW polo 1.2
Regular 95 ron  70.7 bhp
BP ultimate 97 ron   66.2bhp
Shell optimax 98 ron  69bhp
Tesco 99 ron 69.4bhp

I always use BP and these results surprised me ( the testers thought they may have had a bad batch of fuel but I will not be using the BP stuff anymore till I see some more results.
Only reason I did was because BP is a lot nearer to me than a shell garage,

Cheers
