Got the courage to try and start her today. After sorting out the coolant buzzer (Plugs at the back of the power steering needed connecting), i put some petrol in, finished topping it up with oil, and then tried starting her.

turned over quite slowly and didn\'t start. :( Thougth i tmight be down to the battery that\'s in the boot, so jumped her off a friends - started within a couple of turns!! Woohoo!!

There\'s a nice cloud of smoke in the vacinity to the turbo, which I\'m hoping is not an exhaust leak (Engine out to sort!!) but in fact an oil leak - there is oil leaking from the suply pipe to the turbo, so that just needs nipping up properly. Also she started hunting when she had warmed up, which isn\'t too good, but propably something simple. The only other worrying thing is that when switched off, it pushed coolant out the expansion tank (Which was the problem in the first place!!), but I\'m hoping that it\'s just down to me putting too much coolant in.....hopefully! Please be that thats the probklem....

Oh, and my new experience of ball bearing turbos: brilliant, loved the way it kept spinning after the engine had stopped. I think i\'m going to like this beasty! :D

I have 2 issues now that I\'m not entirely 100% happy with at the mo. Drove her a short distance just round the block (Still waiting for air filter). Noticed a rattly/tappy noise coming from the front area of the engine - anyone any thoughts on that?

and also, about 20 seconds after switching her off, i can hear a bubbling/cooking (!?) noise from the turbo - possibly the coolant supply to it. Is this normal? Should i be concerned about this? Any thoughts?

I might be able to help with the rattly noise at the front. Mine did that till I worked out that it was coming from the power steering pump, and topped it up.... Hope that helps!

Cheers, i\'ll check it out. Our other thought was the alternator. Thanks for the pointer.

Well done, Nik.
Its like grown - up Meccano, really. You just need FINESSE in the right places.

Thats a fantastic feeling when it starts, eh?
